Horror fans will get their money's worth in CoD Warzone and CoD Cold War again this year. The new Halloween event “The Haunting 2021” has started and brings a lot of new content into the game. MMOnster summarizes everything about the event for you. For Halloween, many great shooters traditionally hold special events in their games. CoD Warzone and Cold War are also taking part. After the successful event last year, there will be a new Halloween event with The Haunting in 2021, shortly before the release of CoD Vanguard on November 5th. This time the horror films move into CoD and with the event there are new bundles related to a horror classic like Scream or Donnie Darko.

The Haunting 2021 starts on the evening of October 19th at 7 p.m. Warzone will be haunted until November 2nd.

The event came with a small update that took a long time to install on the consoles. Allow a little time for the update. In addition to the Halloween event, the new Grav assault rifle was buffed (less recoil) and there were some bug fixes.

This is how the event works: There is a new mode in CoD Warzone, matching the Halloween theme. In Cold War there is even a new map and three new modes.

Call of Duty allows players to complete challenges using their weapons. Each time they finish a challenge they receive a new camouflage. These challenges range from simple tasks such as 'Get 20 kills', to more difficult tasks such as 'Get twenty headshot kills'. These challenges can be completed to earn the highest camos, such as Gold and Damascus.

New weapons for Halloween - LAPA submachine gun and new melee weapon

LAPA submachine gun is actually one of the weapons that you can only unlock with the coming season 6. With the Halloween event, you can do this sooner. It is apparently a slow-firing submachine gun that is said to be powerful even at greater distances. You have to complete all 9 challenges in Cold War or Warzone to unlock LAPA.

In addition to LAPA, the hammer and sickle weapon will also become available during the course of the event. This two-handed weapon can be unlocked in a special challenge on November 2nd.

Halloween event 2021 in Call of Duty Warzone

This is what awaits you in CoD Warzone: In Warzone there is a new mode with Ghosts of Verdansk, which is active for the duration of the event. It is reminiscent of the Zombie Royale from last year's Halloween event. You have to defend yourself on the map against human and supernatural opponents. You have to deal with a new problem: your fear. Your fear value at the beginning of a game is 0 - 100 is the maximum. The value increases due to various factors. For example, if you get hit, teammates die or you just camp somewhere, the value increases. Should you die, you won't go to the gulag. Instead, you become a ghost. You will then no longer have weapons, but you will get supernatural powers:

Super Jump: As a spirit you have no body, therefore no weight. You can jump very high and also float down from any height
Teleport: You can teleport over short distances, even through enemy players. The ability has a short cooldown
Spectral Blast: An area attack that can slow enemy operators and vehicles

If you manage to kill three players as a ghost, you can revive yourself with these three souls.

Halloween event 2021 in Call of Duty Black Ops - Cold War

This is what awaits you in CoD Cold War: The Nuke Town map is getting a new look for the Halloween event and is available for the event as “Nuke Town Halloween”.

There are also three new modes:

Infected - 18 operators fight against each other in two teams. A team is made up of zombies: you have to infect the other team. If the timer expires beforehand, the human team wins
Prop Hunt Halloween - You can disguise yourself as a pumpkin, skull or heaps of other objects and have to hide from the enemy hunters
Scream Deathmatch - As the name suggests: In this mode, the killer Ghostface from Scream is after you. Two players take on the role of the operator, the others have to hide from him without armament. Make sure that the survivors can scream during a game and inadvertently give away their hiding place.

Zombies gets a new outbreak variant

This is what you can expect in zombie mode: There is a special variant for Outbreak for Halloween. You have to survive long enough in Hallow’s Eve Outbreak. After 10 minutes you can be flown out at one of two points on the map. There is also a new world event in which a monster appears on the map that can turn you off in one fell swoop. So you better be careful. In addition, there are now so-called scare packages that spawn every five rounds. They contain valuable items such as ammunition mods, wonder weapons, support weapons, armor and more. But the boxes also have a hook, so be careful.

The event ends shortly before the official release of CoD Vanguard.
