Final Fantasy XIV's Heaven on High is an engaging and challenging deep dungeon introduced in the Stormblood expansion. It's the second Deep Dungeon following Palace of the Dead, offering players a unique and progressively difficult experience that can be tackled solo or in a party of up to four players. Here's what you need to know about Heaven on High:
Location and Access
Heaven on High is located in the Ruby Sea region of Othard, accessible to players who have reached level 61 and completed the main scenario quest "Tide Goes in, Imperials Go Out" along with the floor 50 checkpoint in Palace of the Dead. Players start their ascent from floor 1 or from a higher floor if they've reached certain milestones, with the dungeon stretching up to floor 100.
Gameplay
-
Procedural Generation: Floors are procedurally generated, ensuring a unique layout, set of enemies, and challenges each time you enter.
-
Aetherpool Gear: Players use special Aetherpool weapons and armor that grow stronger by acquiring Aetherpool Arms from silver chests within the dungeon. These are separate from your outside gear and only affect your performance in deep dungeons.
-
Pomanders: Unique to deep dungeons, pomanders are items that provide various buffs, debuffs, or effects that can significantly impact gameplay, such as transforming enemies, revealing traps, or increasing damage.
-
MagiCite: Players can also obtain MagiCite, which summons powerful creatures to aid in clearing floors.
The primary objective is to reach the highest floor possible, with every tenth floor culminating in a boss fight. The dungeon's difficulty increases as players ascend, challenging them to strategically manage their resources, like pomanders and Aetherpool gear upgrades, to progress.
FFXIV Heaven on High: Rewards
-
Experience Points: Provides a substantial amount of experience for leveling jobs from 61 to 70.
-
Gil and Tomestones: Offers gil and, for higher levels, Tomestones which can be exchanged for high-level gear.
-
Accursed Hoard: Players can find and collect pieces of the Accursed Hoard, which yield unique rewards, including exclusive glamour items, minions, and more, redeemable outside the dungeon.
-
Solo Leaderboards: For those tackling the dungeon solo, there are leaderboards that rank players based on how high they've climbed.
Heaven on High not only serves as an effective leveling tool but also as a competitive and cooperative endgame activity. Its mix of randomized elements, strategic resource management, and the pursuit of high scores or leaderboard rankings offer a refreshing break from traditional content, appealing to a broad range of players in the Final Fantasy XIV community.
