- Call of Duty: Black Ops II
- Call of Duty: Black Ops III
- Call of Duty: Black Ops 4
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War
- Call of Duty: Vanguard
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III
- Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare
- Call of Duty: WWII

The Zombies mode is divided into sub-series: the main series developed by Treyarch, Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare Zombies, Exo Zombies, and Nazi Zombies by Sledgehammer.

History of CoD Zombies
For Treyarch, the success of the mode was unexpected and initially not intended to have a sequel. Over time, it evolved into a relatively large-scale game mode with a continuous storyline. A distinctive feature of CoD Zombies is the Easter eggs that players chase to earn trophies. In the main series, CoD Zombies offers co-op gameplay for up to four players, featuring endless waves where players must survive against hordes of zombies, repair barricades, earn points to buy weapons and Perk-a-Colas, and unlock new areas and special objects. Zombies spawn at barricaded windows, which they quickly break through.
Gameplay in CoD MW3 Zombies
In the latest installment, CoD MW3 Zombies, Treyarch introduces a new gameplay formula similar to an extraction shooter (like DMZ).

Team Setup and PvE Environment
On the map of Urzikstan, 24 players are divided into teams of three, with the option to team up into groups of up to six players. Since MWZ is a PvE mode, there is no PvP with other players as in typical extraction shooters. Players can either ignore other players or team up, with a maximum of six players regardless of whether they start as a full party or solo. Call of Duty Zombies features proximity chat similar to Warzone, allowing players to negotiate with others. To attract attention, you need cool operatives that you can get from the battle pass in MW3. You can use our CoD MW3 Battle Pass Boost to save your time.
Mission Structure and Timing
Each team has 45 minutes to farm loot, complete contracts, and carry out story missions, followed by 15 minutes for evacuation before the map is consumed by the Aether Storm. MW3 Zombies continues the Dark Aether storyline from Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Before deployment, players can select a mission, loadout, and operator, which cannot be changed once deployed. Choosing a loadout and mission in advance allows players to plan their run, which can be helpful in CoD Zombies. Remember, after 45 minutes, the map will be engulfed in gas, and you need to evacuate before you die.
Navigation and Strategy
Upon deployment, players can open the map and may find it confusing at first. Our CoD Zombies: More about Mode helps with this:
- Blue dots represent other players.
- Orange zones indicate medium-difficulty zombies.
- Red zones show high-difficulty zombies.
Different difficulties feature different types of zombies. The map also shows exits and other important locations, with their names listed on the right side of the map. If you evacuate with a weapon you haven’t unlocked yet, it will become unlocked, saving you time on leveling up.

When calling a helicopter for extraction, a massive horde of zombies will attack, so ensure you are ready for a fight before evacuating. A useful tip: zombies can't swim, so if you run into water, they will stop at the shore and throw projectiles at you if possible.
Upgrading Weapons
To upgrade weapons, use Pack-a-Punch, a machine that enhances weapon characteristics and is marked on the map. To upgrade weapons, you need to pay points based on the level you want to upgrade to and where the Pack-a-Punch is located. Note that you cannot upgrade more than once per zone.
Pack-a-Punch Upgrade Costs
Level | Cost |
---|---|
1 | 5000 points |
2 | 10000 points |
3 | 15000 points |
Storyline in CoD Zombies
The story in Call of Duty Zombies unfolds progressively through story missions and is divided into four acts:
- 1.Operation Deadbolt
- 2.Mother Of Invention
- 3.Confrontation
- 4.Contact
Each act contains a set of story missions necessary for advancing through the act. Story missions can only be completed one at a time during a run. To complete a mission, players need to find special entrances marked on the map; upon approaching, they will see red smoke. Entering a mission keeps players solely with their squad, with no other players to assist them.
