Final Fantasy XIV Leveling Guide
Final Fantasy 14 is an MMORPG in the popular Final Fantasy series, developed and published by Square Enix on September 30, 2010. Final Fantasy represents the JRPG genre, which often involves a significant amount of grinding to extend gameplay. Our Final Fantasy XIV Leveling Guide is designed to help you to reduce time for grind. In this guide, you’ll learn how to reach the maximum level as fast as possible in Final Fantasy. If you don’t want to spend your time on all that grind, you can also use our FFXIV Power Leveling 1-100 Boost.

Warning:This guide is intended for players who have completed the main quest, as the most effective leveling methods unlock after its completion. There should be no major issues with completing the main quest.

Exp boosts and bonuses
To level up quickly in Final Fantasy XIV, it's important to use Exp Buffs. Individually, buffs and bonuses aren’t particularly useful, but many of them can stack, making them highly effective. Always check before every battle that you have applied Exp Buffs using food, so you don’t waste unnecessary time grinding. Apart from food, there are other Exp Boosts and Bonuses, such as the Free Company Buff and Rested EXP Buff. To receive the Rested EXP Buff, log out in Sanctuary locations, so don’t forget to log out there, especially if you won’t be able to play for a while.
There are also items in the game that give experience bonuses. All items are listed in the table below:
Item | Exp Bonus | Conditions |
---|---|---|
Moogle Cap | 20% exp bonus until level 11. | A Realm Reborn Pre-order bonus |
Helm of Light | 20% exp bonus until level 11. | A Realm Reborn Collector's Edition |
Friendship Circlet | 20% exp bonus until level 26. | Recruit-a-Friend Campaign (have a friend subscribe for 30 days) |
Brand-New Ring | 30% exp bonus until level 31. | Complete the Hall of the Novice |
Ala Mhigan Earrings | 30% exp bonus until level 51. | Shadowbringers Pre-order bonus |
Aetheryte Earring | 30% exp bonus until level 71. | Endwalker Pre-order bonus |
Menphina's Earring | 30% exp bonus until level 81. | Endwalker Pre-order bonus |
Playing on a Preferred Server also gives a Preferred Server Bonus to experience.
Roulettes
Roulettes are another way to save time on grinding levels in Final Fantasy, as they can provide a lot of experience. Daily roulettes might seem like they give a lot of experience, but at the early stages, they take more time than they provide in experience. Therefore, daily roulettes are not very effective, and it’s better to ignore them. You can also get a roulette from the Crystalline Conflict PvP mode, but the main place to get experience from roulettes is from Leveling, Alliance Raids, Trials, and Normal Raid Roulettes. We recommend using roulettes after accumulating them, just before moving on to new levels.

1-15
You begin your journey in A Realm Reborn's zones, where you will need to choose a new starting class that will later evolve into a job you wish to level up. All starting classes, jobs, and their quests are listed in the table below:
Job | Starting Class | Starting Quest |
---|---|---|
Paladin | Gladiator | "Way of the Gladiator" |
Warrior | Marauder | "Way of the Marauder" |
White Mage | Conjurer | "Way of the Conjurer" |
Scholar | Arcanist | "Way of the Arcanist" |
Summoner | Arcanist | "Way of the Arcanist" |
Black Mage | Thaumaturge | "Way of the Thaumaturge" |
Bard | Archer | "Way of the Archer" |
Dragoon | Lancer | "Way of the Lancer" |
Monk | Pugilist | "Way of the Pugilist" |
Ninja | Rogue | "My First Daggers" |
After selecting a class, you'll need to complete the class quest. We recommend using the Hunting Log to track your tasks. While completing quests, focus on FATEs, as they are one of the best ways to level up in the early stages. And, of course, don’t forget about experience buffs.
16-30
At level 17, the quest The House That Death Built becomes available, which grants access to the Palace of the Dead. This is a great place to farm experience. The Palace of the Dead has 200 floors, but for efficient leveling, we recommend sticking to floors 50-60. You can effectively level up here until higher levels.
31-60
At level 50, the experience gain in the Palace of the Dead slows down significantly, except for DPS, for whom it remains one of the most efficient leveling methods until level 61. But for Tanks and Healers, it is better to start running dungeons at level 50 for more efficient experience grinding, which should continue until level 61.
61-70
From level 61 onwards, all classes should start farming in Heaven-on-High. To unlock Heaven-on-High, you need to complete the quest Knocking on Heaven's Door. You should farm here until level 70, and don’t forget to make use of your daily roulettes. Floors 21-30 are the best for farming in Heaven-on-High, offering a good balance of risk and reward.
71-80
Once you reach level 71+, the Palace of the Dead and Heaven-on-High become less useful, and leveling will slow down significantly. To continue efficient leveling, we recommend moving on to Shadowbringers and once again focusing on FATEs, but now in the new areas. Shadowbringers FATEs not only help with leveling but are also a good source of rare items. At this stage, you will unlock Trusts, a system of NPC parties in Shadowbringers where you can have the Scions of the Seventh Dawn as your party members. Each avatar has its own level that you need to level up. If your avatar’s level does not match the dungeon, you won’t be able to enter. However, avatars are a great way to ease your grind. Also, don’t forget about Pixie Tribal Quests, as the experience they provide is too good to ignore.
81-90
At this stage, Endwalker story quests offer the most experience. It’s important to complete all of your daily Leveling, Main Scenario, Alliance Raids, Trials, and Frontline roulettes, as they provide a large amount of experience at these levels. After completing the Endwalker main storyline, Eureka Orthos becomes available. Like previous dungeons, it is a Deep Dungeon with 100 floors. After finishing Endwalker, Eureka Orthos will become your primary method for leveling up to level 90.
91-100
Leveling up to 100 in Final Fantasy XIV doesn’t differ much from previous levels. You still need to complete the main quest, focus on FATEs and dungeons, and don’t forget about roulettes. Since at higher levels there's not much that gives a significant amount of experience, we also recommend completing Aether Currents.
