The First Descendant: Game Overview & Comprehensive Guide
The First Descendant is a new free-to-play looter-shooter RPG developed by Nexon Games, with action gameplay similar to Warframe and Destiny 2. The game was released on June 30 2024, for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Windows PC, PlayStation 5, and PlayStation 4. In The First Descendant, you’ll experience battles against bosses and missions in solo or 4-player co-op, using and shuffling unique characters and guns. The First Descendant is an MMO-like game where you can adjust builds and characters to your gameplay style, as the game has many items and 19 characters with unique abilities (14 standard and 5 ultimate). New characters and items will be added with patches because the game is successful and ranks in the top 10 of Steam's online statistics.
The First Descendant is the first popular online co-op looter-shooter using Unreal Engine 5. When compared to Warframe and Destiny 2, The First Descendant excels, even surpassing the Borderlands series, as Borderlands 3 was created with Unreal Engine 4. The visuals of The First Descendant can be compared not only with other looter-shooters but also with all new games, making it arguably the most beautiful looter-shooter right now. However, the game had technical problems at release. In The First Descendant, you take on the role of the last hope of humanity Descendant, with a mission to fight against invaders and save humanity by protecting the Ingris continent. The First Descendant is not simple; it has many mechanics that we want to touch on in our guide.

At the start of The First Descendant, you can pick one of three characters. In our guide, we advise you to pick Lepic if you play solo because Lepic is the most independent character from the starting three. However, if you want to play with friends, choose a character that complements their picks. Don’t be upset if you don’t pick the one you want initially, as you can unlock more characters later and choose the one you desire. To unlock new characters, you need to research or craft them with components obtained as mission rewards, and our team is ready to help with that The First Descendant Characters Unlock. Every character in The First Descendant has levels that you need to increase to unlock new abilities and gear. The maximum level for each character is 40. In our guide, we teach you how to level up your Descendant quickly, specifically at the special operation Block Kuiper Mining in Sterile Lands. Before starting, you need to progress far enough in the campaign to unlock the Sterile Lands map and complete all missions there. However, for initial attempts, we recommend starting with the Kingston Resource Defense mission in the Kingstone region, as it’s a horde mode mission that helps you get accustomed to the gameplay. If you have problems leveling your character, you need The First Descendant Character Leveling.

How to Upgrade Modules
Modules are another crucial aspect of The First Descendant that you need to upgrade for a strong build. Modules come in two types: Descendant Modules and Weapon Modules. Descendant Modules buff skills and stats or change the functionality of skills, while Weapon Modules buff weapon stats and can change some functions of weapons. Modules have a capacity limit that prevents you from equipping all the best modules in the game, balancing it out. Modules drop from mobs, world activities, and mission rewards. The capacity cost of modules ranges from 0 to 19. Modules are divided by sockets: Almandine, Rutile, Xantic, Malachite, and Cerulean. Most modules have a maximum of 10 enhancement levels, though some have fewer. You can track the enhancement level by the indicator on the left side of the module icon. You can install modules in your inventory, but upgrading them requires visiting Silion in the lobby. For upgrading modules in The First Descendant, you need Kuiper, Krystals, and Gold. If you don’t have enough Gold, you can use our The First Descendant Gold Farm. Kuiper Shards can be obtained by dismantling modules. At Mastery Rank 9, you unlock the ability to combine modules, merging 4 modules and gold to get a higher-quality module. Mastery Rank also unlocks other features in The First Descendant, such as additional slots and capacity limits for modules.
How To Rank Up Mastery
Mastery Rank is the main progression system in The First Descendant. To level up your Mastery, you need Mastery EXP, which you earn from leveling descendants, increasing your weapon mastery, completing missions for the first time, and receiving quest rewards. Once you have enough, you can visit Albion and use Prime Hands to rank up. Mastery Rank provides many benefits, such as new weapon/descendant module slots, increased storage slots, increased equipment inventory, increased consumable inventory, increased shape stabilizer inventory limit, and new features like Weapon Level Transmission and Weapon Readjustment. To check benefits from Mastery Rank, go to Inventory > Mastery Rank. If this process seems overwhelming, you can use ourThe First Descendant Mastery Rank Boost.
How to Get Credits
Credits are the most important currency in The First Descendant, needed for buying materials (codes and stabilizers) for unlocking new Descendants. To earn credits, you need to complete missions and clear zones on the map. Claim credit rewards from the mail menu. The fastest way to farm credits is the Sterile Land Resource Defense Special Operation, which unlocks after completing all quests on the map. This mission is hard, requiring you and your team to survive 21 waves of enemies in a toxic environment. We recommend doing this operation with friends for good communication and leveling up your Toxic Resistance to the maximum. This mission requires matchmaking, so if you don’t have a team, you can find one in the queue. Each wave completed gives you rewards, and if you see that it's taking more time than it's worth, we recommend completing the mission on Normal difficulty. Surviving 21 waves on Normal will take you about 30-40 minutes. The fastest way to farm credits in The First Descendant is to team up with friends and complete the Resource Defense Special Operation with maximum Toxic Resistance on Normal.
