WoW Housing Decor: How to Get Decorations in Midnight

Most housing decor in World of Warcraft comes from playing the game. You earn it from quests and achievements, buy it from vendors with gold and Midnight currencies, craft it with professions, and pick it up from dungeon, raid and Delve bosses. Neighborhood Endeavors add their own vendors, and only a smaller part of the catalog sits in the shop. This guide is up to date for Midnight Season 2 and patch 12.1.5 and also covers what the 12.1.7 PTR changes for Housing.

How the Decor Catalog works

Open the Housing Dashboard with H and go to the Decor Catalog. It shows every piece with its preview, where it comes from and how many copies you own, so it is the best place to plan a room before you go farming. You can place a preview in your house first and decide later whether the item is worth the effort.

Your decor collection is shared across your Warband, so an item you earn on one character shows up for all of them. You still own a set number of copies, because a chair placed in your Alliance house is not free to place in your Horde house at the same time. Extra copies usually come from the vendor that sells the item once you have unlocked it. Some decor goes into your collection right away, while other pieces land in your bags and need to be used first.

Storage caps how many copies you can keep, while the placement budget caps how much you can put inside and outside your house. Each piece costs part of that budget, and higher house levels raise it. The tracking button sends you to the source of an item you are missing; a hotfix on October 30, 2026 fixed it for the Nagrand plants sold by Botanist Gril’ka.

Quests and achievements

Many pieces are rewards for quests and achievements, and Blizzard grants them retroactively. If you finished the quest or earned the achievement years ago, the decor is already in your collection, so check the catalog before you replay old content. A good example is Back from the Beyond from Shadowlands, which unlocks the Portal to Damnation; Ve’nari then sells extra copies for Stygia.

Midnight adds plenty of its own. A Bloody Song gives the Silvermoon Energy Focus, Tallest Tree in the Forest gives the Colossal Amani Stone Visage and Leaf None Behind gives the Lightbloom Moss Mound. Patch 12.1.5 added more: the Aqir introduction quest rewards the Aqir Hunter’s Trophy, and An Offering for Halazzi rewards the Symbol of Halazzi, Loa of the Hunt.

Vendors and currencies

Vendors are where most extra copies come from, and in Midnight they also sell pieces that unlock as your Renown grows. Each zone faction has its own decor vendor, so the more you play a zone, the more of its furniture you can buy.

Voidlight Marl is the general Midnight currency you collect from activities in all four zones, so it is worth saving while your Renown is still climbing. Undercoin drops at the end of Bountiful Delves. Older expansions keep their own vendors and currencies, such as Order Resources in Suramar, Stygia from Ve’nari or Dragon Isles Supplies, and those currencies do not convert into one another. The Coiled Isle from patch 12.1.5 added more vendors, including Firetender Zab’ni, who sells copies of quest, achievement and treasure decor from the island.

Crafting decor with professions

Alchemy, Blacksmithing, Cooking, Enchanting, Engineering, Inscription, Jewelcrafting, Leatherworking and Tailoring can all craft decor. Recipes cover every era of the game, and an older recipe usually needs that expansion’s profession skill. You can craft the piece yourself, place a crafting order or buy a tradable copy on the Auction House.

Most recipes also need lumber. You unlock wood gathering through the housing quest Lumber For You, and after that trees with lumber show up on your minimap in every expansion zone. Lumber is Warbound, so your alts can share it, but you cannot sell it on the Auction House. When you place a public crafting order, you supply the lumber yourself.

Patch 12.1.5 made crafting decor from pre-Midnight professions cheaper. Blizzard did not give one number for all recipes; guides measured roughly half the lumber and noticeably fewer rare materials than before, so old shopping lists overestimate the cost.

Dungeons, raids and Delves

Many Midnight bosses carry a decor piece. Degentrius in Magisters’ Terrace drops the Magister’s Bookshelf and Nalorakk in Den of Nalorakk drops the Amani Ritual Altar, and you do not need Mythic+ for these. Delve chests and Nemesis enemies have their own pieces, such as the Amani Dining Table and the Sin’dorei Spinning Library. Patch 12.1.5 added Amani decor to the Labyrinth of Kindo’jan and Kith’ix’s Seal to the Kith’ix raid. Drop chances for single items are not published.

Season 2 raid trophies are the most reliable drops. Every member of the raid gets them when Ula’tek dies in The Venomous Abyss:

Neighborhood Endeavors and house level

Endeavors are shared neighborhood goals that change roughly once a month. Every task you finish gives Community Coupons and house XP, and the neighborhood’s progress opens new stock at the visiting Endeavor vendor. Coupons buy that vendor’s decor and some room plans. Patch 12.1 added four Endeavors with Griftah, Roshai Lightstep, Timicky and Taifa as vendors, and since 12.1.5 a public neighborhood no longer gets the same Endeavor twice in a row.

House level matters for decor because it raises your placement budget. The cap is level 12, and higher levels also open large exteriors. You get house XP the first time you collect an eligible piece and from Endeavor tasks, while duplicates and shop items give none. Collection XP goes to both of your houses, and Endeavor XP goes to the house of your active Endeavor. When you have enough XP, visit the General Contractor to apply the upgrade.

PvP decor

PvP achievements unlock their own decor, such as the Horde Dueling Flag for The Grim Reaper and Berserker’s Empowerment for Entering Battle. Joruh in Orgrimmar and Riica in Stormwind then sell copies for Honor or Marks of Honor. You do not need a rating for these pieces.

Holidays and Hallow’s End 2026

World events bring their own decor. Hallow’s End 2026 ran from October 19 to November 2 and brought holiday quests into the neighborhoods. Holly Twinklebright in Founder’s Point and Jolli Maxiboom in Razorwind Shores sold candles, jack-o’-lanterns, a scarecrow and Heartsbane decor for gold, and these pieces belong to the vendors’ permanent stock. Tricky Treats bought the seasonal pieces, such as the Filled Candy Bucket and the Looming Heartsbane Effigy, and the Headless Horseman dropped the Horrific Head of the Horseman on the first kill of the day. The Community Candy Crawl filled the neighborhoods with candy buckets every hour, and that candy traded for Tricky Treats.

Hallow’s End returns every October. Blizzard has not said that every 2026 piece comes back unchanged, so check the event vendors again next year if you missed something.

The shop and Hearthsteel

The in-game shop sells housing items for Hearthsteel, which you buy with Battle.net Balance. A WoW Token bought for gold can be turned into Balance. You do not need Hearthsteel to own a house or to use decor you earned in the game. The newest offer is the Haunted Grimtide Estate with its own exterior and foyer. The Grimtide Decor Pack is sold on its own until December 1, 2026, and every piece in it except the Grimtide Tentacle can be dyed.

Dyes work on decor with customization slots. Patch 12.1 removed pigments, so Alchemists and scribes now make dyes straight from herbs. One dye covers a whole colour family, and each use consumes it.

What patch 12.1.7 changes for Housing

Patch 12.1.7 is on the PTR, and Blizzard has not announced a release date. These changes can still move before it goes live:

• A fix for decor that turned on its own when the game converted it to the new rotation format. The next time you edit your house after the patch, all its decor is saved in the new format and should stay where you put it.
• New decor at the Timewalking vendors during Turbulent Timeways, the eight-week Timewalking event of the patch.
• Talebound decor such as the Quillgrave Storyteller’s Lectern, bought with Bound Silver.
• Datamined Lorewalking books, theater curtains, Winter Veil decor and two cabin exteriors. These are database finds, so their sources may still change.
