This MoP Classic DPS tier list is for Siege of Orgrimmar raiding. It compares specializations in the current raid phase, where gear, encounter mechanics, and the damage a player can deliver while doing mechanics all matter. It is a guide to raid planning, not a promise about your personal parse or a rule for every boss.
The tiers below follow Wowhead's Phase 5 PvE specialization guide. Its ranking weighs damage and raid utility for Siege of Orgrimmar progression and reclears. It does not mean every specialization in a tier deals the same damage, or that the first name in a row is always better than the last. Individual Warcraft Logs statistics use different filters, fight lengths, raid sizes, and percentile ranges, so check the setting before comparing a log with an editorial tier list.
How to read the tiers
S is the standout pick in this guide's overall raid assessment. A contains strong choices with high damage or a valuable encounter profile. B contains viable picks with narrower strengths or less overall value for the assumed roster. C represents the lower end of this particular comparison, not an inability to clear the raid. The source guide currently has no D tier.
These are Siege of Orgrimmar raid rankings, not dungeon, PvP, or leveling rankings. A fight with spread targets rewards a different damage profile from a short single-target pull. Raid buffs and defensive tools can also change which character a group needs. Use the list to identify candidates, then compare your raid's needs and your own play.

In particular, putting two specializations in A tier does not establish which one will top a specific boss. If you are choosing a main, check the class guide and recent logs for the exact difficulty and encounter you intend to play.
S tier: Affliction Warlock
Affliction earns the top position in the source guide because its damage-over-time effects are especially valuable on Siege encounters with several targets. Soul Swap lets the specialization move or spread those effects in ways that reward careful target selection. Fallen Protectors and Kor'kron Dark Shamans are examples of fights where that profile is useful. This does not make a raid stronger by endlessly stacking Warlocks: once the group has its needed buffs and tools, another class can offer more value than another copy of the same specialization.
A tier: strong raid options
Demonology Warlock offers burst and short cleave windows, but Affliction's multi-target strength makes Demonology the more situational Warlock choice. Windwalker Monk brings strong cleave through Storm, Earth, and Fire; it gives up some raid utility compared with other melee picks. Feral Druid can deliver excellent single-target damage when it can stay on the boss, so movement and melee uptime matter.
Balance Druid can contribute cleave damage while continuing to pressure its primary target, and it has useful Druid raid tools. Fire Mage improves with gear and critical strike, although its results can swing with procs and cooldown timing. Arcane Mage is a strong damage choice when the player manages mana and movement well; its profile is different from Fire's.
Fury Warrior combines damage with Warrior raid tools such as Skull Banner and Rallying Cry. Its ranking reflects the value of those tools as well as personal damage; it does not imply that every Fury parse leads the meters. Combat Rogue is the highest-ranked Rogue specialization in this assessment. Its cleave and defensive toolkit can matter on difficult encounters, and Smoke Bomb and Tricks of the Trade add group value.
B tier: useful picks with specific strengths
Retribution Paladin has useful single-target burst and protective tools, including Devotion Aura and Hand of Sacrifice. Its weaker cleave limits its overall placement. Beast Mastery and Survival Hunters can handle mechanics while keeping up damage, and Misdirection can be useful in progression. Their B placement should not be read as a reason to exclude Hunters from a raid.
Arms Warrior brings the same important Warrior group tools as Fury but ranks lower here as gear favors Fury's damage profile. Enhancement and Elemental Shamans provide offensive support through Stormlash Totem and defensive help through Ancestral Guidance. Elemental can also answer specific add phases with burst area damage; a raid's need for that utility may outweigh its personal-DPS ranking.
Shadow Priest can bring Mass Dispel, Vampiric Embrace, and Dispersion for encounter mechanics. Destruction Warlock still has powerful damage opportunities, particularly where additional targets help it focus damage onto a priority target, even though Affliction ranks higher overall. Subtlety and Assassination Rogues share strong Rogue survival and group tools, but Combat's overall Siege profile places it above them in this guide.
C tier: lower in this comparison, still raid-capable
Marksmanship Hunter can produce damage comparable to the other Hunter specializations, but movement and execution make its full output harder to realize in progression. Unholy Death Knight has execute value through Soul Reaper and access to Death Knight utility such as Anti-Magic Zone. It uses diseases and a ghoul in MoP Classic; Festering Wound is not a MoP Classic mechanic.
Frost Death Knight can find cleave opportunities but scales less favorably with the gear assumed in this tier list. Frost Mage is playable and may feel better at lower gear levels, yet Fire and Arcane offer more in the source guide's overall Siege assessment. None of these placements means the specialization cannot finish Siege of Orgrimmar.
Choosing a specialization for your raid
- Look at the encounter. Compare single-target, cleave, priority-target, and movement demands before applying an overall tier.
- Check your roster. Raid buffs, survivability, and mechanic assignments matter alongside a player's damage.
- Compare like with like. For Warcraft Logs, use the same boss, difficulty, raid size, and percentile when inspecting spec performance.
- Play what you can execute. A comfortable player who handles mechanics can contribute more than someone on a higher-tier spec played poorly.
Use the tier list to make a shortlist, then examine class guides and encounter-specific data. The rankings can change with gear, tuning, and strategy, and the difference between neighboring tiers is not a fixed DPS percentage.

Can a B- or C-tier specialization clear Siege of Orgrimmar?

Why do these placements differ from original Mists of Pandaria lists?
MoP Classic has its own class tuning and raid environment. More experienced groups, different gear progression, and current encounter strategies also affect comparisons. Use sources about MoP Classic rather than an old original-release chart.
Are these rankings based only on raid logs?
No. This table follows an editorial guide that considers damage profile and raid utility. Logs are useful for checking particular bosses, but their filters and sample can lead to different orders.
Should I reroll to the highest tier?
Only if you enjoy the spec and it fits your group. For most raids, execution, mechanics, and roster coverage are more useful than chasing a tier letter alone.
