This guide compares current healer, tank and DPS options for Mythic+ and explains how to use a tier list without treating any specialization as unusable.
Rankings are a snapshot, not a guarantee for every key. The assessments below use current role-specific Icy Veins lists, which consider damage or healing, survivability, utility and group fit. Tuning, a dungeon's mechanics and player skill can all change what works best for your group.
How to Read This Mythic+ Tier List
S tier names specializations that the cited role rankings currently place at the front of their role. Strong alternatives are useful choices with different strengths or some trade-offs. These labels summarize one expert ranking, not an official Blizzard balance score. Blizzard adjusts classes and dungeons during a season; check live data and your group needs before changing characters.
Mythic+ scales dungeons with a keystone. At higher levels, a group's interrupts, dispels, defensive tools, route and ability to handle priority targets can matter as much as raw damage. A practiced player on a lower-ranked spec can outperform a poorly played top pick. Use the list to identify useful toolkits, not to exclude competent players automatically.

The former page called Discipline Priest the clear best healer in one section and Restoration Druid the best in its FAQ. Neither conflicting claim was a reliable current ranking. In the cited Midnight Season 2 healer analysis, Holy Paladin and Restoration Shaman lead. That does not mean every group should replace its familiar healer: an experienced healer who knows the route and defensive timings is often the safer choice.
If your group lacks a key support tool, compare the full healer kit rather than just the tier letter. Restoration Shaman's Bloodlust may solve one composition gap; a Druid's battle resurrection may solve another. The best answer can change between a casual weekly key and a coordinated push.

The War Within article placed Vengeance Demon Hunter at the top by default. Current Midnight Season 2 analysis instead places Blood Death Knight first, while also noting that it does not bring a unique party-wide buff. Guardian Druid can contribute Mark of the Wild; Protection Paladin brings broad group utility; Vengeance Demon Hunter remains mobile and useful. Do not read the tank ranking as a ban on the other options.
In a run, tank performance depends on pull size, available defensives, healer timing and a route the team understands. A tank that groups enemies safely and survives the dungeon's hardest hits can be more valuable than a nominally higher tier with an unfamiliar player.

Elemental Shaman combines sustained damage with useful support; Arcane Mage is a strong ranged option for both single targets and packs. The exact order can shift after tuning, so the shared top band is more useful than a numbered podium.
These are leading examples, not the complete roster of viable DPS. A party still needs a workable interrupt and dispel plan, reliable survival and damage suited to the dungeon. A lower-ranked spec may fit a missing requirement better than another top-ranked damage dealer. The old page's blanket claims that Fire Mage, Shadow Priest or Affliction Warlock were poor choices came from another expansion and should not be carried into Midnight.
Build a Better Mythic+ Group
Start with the dungeon and key level, then choose players who can handle its most dangerous casts and bosses. A balanced group needs a tank route, healing for expected damage, interrupts, and enough priority-target and multi-target damage. Check your available Bloodlust, battle resurrection, dispels and group defensives. None of those tools is automatically worth replacing a strong player, but gaps become obvious in difficult runs.
If you want a quick starting point, pair an experienced tank and healer with DPS players whose damage patterns complement one another. A team full of similar burst windows can struggle when targets need sustained attention; a team with no control can lose time or lives to avoidable casts. Revisit the plan after a failed key rather than blaming the tier letters alone.
