Introducing: Val’anyr, Hammer of Ancient Kings

What is Val’anyr and Why is it So Great?

Val’anyr is a legendary weapon in the Wrath of the Lich King expansion, coveted by healers everywhere for its powerful stats and unique effect. Healing a player gives a 10% chance to gain the Blessing of Ancient Kings for 15 seconds, which creates a shield equal to 15% of the amount healed on a target for 8 seconds. This effect can be stacked by different Val’anyr wielders, but the shield can’t grow larger than 20,000 absorption points.

Va’lanyr, the Best Class

So which class is best suited for Val’anyr? Let's break it down:

  • Holy Paladins: main tank healers with a low healing frequency.
  • Restoration Druids: good for overtime healing groups of people, but the smallest shield among all classes.
  • Restoration Shamans: can heal multiple targets, but lower healing output in comparison with other classes.
  • Discipline Priests: not ideal, as the shield is triggered by healing a player, not by shielding them.
