Best WoW Addons for Midnight Season 2

Addons still work in Midnight, and most of the popular ones are up to date for patch 12.1.5. Midnight limits how much combat information they can read, so some old favorites now work differently and a few are gone. This list only includes addons that have a Retail update for patch 12.1.5 or 12.1, checked on November 2, 2026, and it starts with what the game already does on its own.

What Midnight changed for addons

Blizzard turned a lot of live combat data into so-called secret values. Addons can still show that information in their own frames, bars and nameplates, but they can’t read it to make decisions for you, so an addon can no longer tell you which button to press because a buff is about to run out. Blizzard wants the game to decide how hard a fight is, while you keep the freedom to arrange your screen.

Patch 12.1 gave addons a way to show filtered sets of buffs and debuffs again, and patch 12.1.5 added minimap coordinates and clearer dispel highlights on raid frames to the default UI. Patch 12.1.7 is on the test realm right now, and Blizzard hasn’t announced a general rollback of the rules there.

The biggest loss is WeakAuras. Its team stopped Retail support because its core features depend on the data that is now secret, and the latest Retail file is still built for patch 11.2.7. Old WeakAuras packs from guides and Discords won’t work in Midnight.

Try the built-in tools first

The default UI covers more than it used to, so check these before you install a replacement:

  • The Damage Meter is under Options → Gameplay Enhancements and covers a basic meter for most players.
  • The Cooldown Manager shows your important cooldowns and buffs in one place, and since patch 12.1 also trinkets, potions and racial abilities.
  • Boss Warnings give you a timeline and alerts for every encounter.
  • The world map has had coordinates since patch 12.1, and the minimap has them since 12.1.5.
  • Edit Mode moves and resizes almost every frame, and combined bags put your inventory in one window.

Addons still make sense when you want a cleaner layout, more detail after a fight or tools the game doesn’t have, like route planning or rare alerts.

Best quest addons

Quest addons are the easiest win, because the secret value rules barely touch them.

  • World Quest Tracker is the best world quest addon. It lists all world quests with their rewards on the map and in a tracker, so you can plan a route for gold, gear or reputation in a few seconds.
  • Azeroth Pilot Reloaded is a free leveling guide inside the game. It shows the next quest step with a waypoint arrow and has routes for leveling, speedruns and campaigns, including Midnight.
  • HandyNotes: Midnight marks rares, treasures, battle pets and other rewards in the Midnight zones. It needs the HandyNotes core addon, which CurseForge installs with it.
  • RareScanner alerts you when a rare, event or treasure is nearby and shows its loot.
  • TomTom gives you a waypoint arrow and multiple destinations. You don’t need it just for coordinates anymore, but many guides still post TomTom waypoints.
  • Dialogue UI turns quest text into a cleaner, cinematic dialogue window that also works with a controller. Immersion does something similar but has only been updated for patch 12.1 so far.

Boss mods: DBM and BigWigs

Deadly Boss Mods and BigWigs are both updated for 12.1.5 and already for 12.1.7. They show timers and warnings for raid bosses, and LittleWigs adds dungeons to BigWigs. Pick one, because both together only double the alerts. Under the new rules they can’t react to every combat event like they used to, so the advanced assignments from older guides are gone. They’re still worth it if you prefer their timers and sounds to the built-in Boss Warnings.

Damage meter: Details!

Details! is updated for 12.1.5 and is still the most popular meter. Some data it used to record live is now limited, but it gives you a cleaner window and more breakdowns after a fight than the built-in meter. For a full review of a raid night, upload your logs to Warcraft Logs.

Nameplates, raid frames and full UIs

  • Plater remains the most flexible nameplate addon and is updated for 12.1.5 and 12.1.7. Old scripts and profiles from before Midnight may not work, so start with a fresh profile.
  • Platynator is a simpler nameplate addon built around the Midnight rules, and a good choice if Plater feels like too much.
  • ElvUI replaces the whole interface. Version 16.00 is updated for 12.1.5 and brings back dispel highlights and nameplate options. Third-party ElvUI plugins need their own updates.
  • VuhDo and Grid2 are updated raid frames for healers. VuhDo lists the features Midnight took away, for example overheal text and Emergency Mode.

Mythic+ addons

  • Raider.IO shows Mythic+ scores and raid progress in tooltips and the group finder, so you can check players before you invite them.
  • Mythic Dungeon Tools plans your route and enemy forces for every Season 2 dungeon and already has the latest enemy placements in Den of Nalorakk.
  • KeystoneLoot shows what each dungeon drops for your spec, so you know which key to run for an item.
  • Angry Keystones adds a timer for each chest upgrade, exact enemy forces and a death counter to the key tracker. Its latest Retail file from September 29 is built for patch 12.1, so check for an update if something doesn’t show.

Our Mythic+ boost gets you through keys at the level you need if you’d rather skip the pug queue.

Bags, Auction House and gold

  • Baganator sorts your bags and bank into categories or one big view and shows what your other characters carry. It needs Syndicator, which CurseForge installs with it.
  • Bagnon is the classic one-window bag, also for the bank.
  • Auctionator adds shopping lists, faster selling and auction prices in item tooltips.
  • TradeSkillMaster is for serious gold makers who want crafting costs, posting rules and mailbox automation, and it takes some setup.

Gear and upgrades

Simulationcraft exports your character so you can simulate it on Raidbots and see which items really help. Pawn marks upgrades in your bags and tooltips with stat weights. It’s a fast estimate, so check bigger choices like trinkets with a sim.

Quality of life, collections and housing

  • Leatrix Plus bundles dozens of small conveniences, for example faster loot, auto repair and a cleaner minimap.
  • Plumber adds an expansion summary, a better loot window and other small helpers.
  • Altoholic keeps track of gold, items, professions and lockouts across all your characters.
  • Home Bound is a checklist for housing rewards and achievements with decor previews.
  • Narcissus gives you a better character screen and a photo studio for screenshots.
  • Better Wardrobe and Transmog improves the collections and transmog windows. Its latest file is built for patch 12.1.
  • WeakAuras, because its team ended Retail support for Midnight.
  • OmniCD, because its latest Retail file is still for patch 11.2.7 and party cooldown tracking depends on data that is now secret.
  • Cell and Rarity, because their latest Retail files are from January 2026 and there’s no update for patch 12.1 yet.

That can change quickly, so look at the date of the latest Retail file before you install any of them.

How to install and update addons

  1. Install an addon manager. The CurseForge app is the most common one and comes as a standalone version or inside Overwolf. WowUp has an edition for CurseForge and one for Wago, and the Wago app also installs UI packs.
  2. Pick the Retail installation in the manager, search the addon and install it. The manager adds required libraries such as Syndicator or the HandyNotes core for you.
  3. On the character select screen, open AddOns and check that the addons are enabled. If an addon is marked as out of date, you can still allow it there, but expect errors.
  4. Update everything after each patch, because many authors release fixes in the first days.
  5. If something breaks, disable your newest addons and turn them back on one by one to find the cause.

Yes. Addons can still change how your interface looks, but they can’t read live combat data to make decisions for you.

No. Its team ended Retail support because Midnight hides the combat data it depends on. For your own cooldowns, use the built-in Cooldown Manager.

Its latest Retail file from September 29, 2026 is built for patch 12.1. It still adds chest timers, enemy forces and a death counter, so check for an update after each patch.

Not for the basics, because the game has its own Boss Warnings. Many players still prefer the timers and sounds of DBM or BigWigs, and both are updated for 12.1.5.
