Updated Mythic+ Affix System in The War Within Season 2

The War Within Season 2 revamps the Mythic+ affix system, refining difficulty scaling and strategic depth:

  • New Affix Progression: Affixes are now introduced at key levels 4, 7, 10, and 12, streamlining difficulty progression.
  • Xal’atath’s Bargains (Level 4-10): Rotating weekly affixes that modify encounters with buffs, debuffs, or additional mechanics.
  • Tyrannical & Fortified (Level 7 & 10): Now active at separate key levels, rotating weekly to balance dungeon and boss difficulty.
  • Xal’atath’s Guile (Level 12): Replaces Bargains, introducing a death penalty system, where each player death subtracts 15 seconds from the timer.

Learn the new systems, prepare, and gear up fast to enjoy the expansion’s rewards.

Dungeon Difficulty and Rewards in The War Within

Normal dungeons (70+) are the easiest entry point for gearing up. They become available at level 70 and drop Explorer Gear (item level 600). While this gear is not the highest, it provides a solid foundation to prepare for Heroic dungeons.

Heroic dungeons (80+) offer a step up in difficulty and better rewards. They are accessible at level 80 and drop Adventurer Gear (item level 616). Each boss can drop loot once per day, making daily Heroic runs a great way to consistently improve your character’s gear.

Mythic dungeons (80+) are the toughest non-scaling dungeon difficulty and provide Champion Gear (item level 642). Unlike Heroic, there is no daily loot restriction, meaning players can run these dungeons multiple times to farm specific pieces of gear before stepping into Mythic+ content.

After level 12, the difficulty of the Mythic+ dungeons doesn’t get harder. Here’s a list of the affixes you’ll encounter:

Some tips and tricks for optimal gearing in Mythic+

There will be few dos and don'ts here. Do not waste your Valorstones and Harbinger Crests on the items from low keys. If possible, try to reach out the best in slot gear pieces and collect new currency and crests as much as you can. They will be in your favor this season if you have plenty of them.

Mythic+ Tips for Efficient Gearing:

  • Start at a Comfortable Level: With Champion gear now dropping in Mythic 0, new players can begin gearing without jumping straight into high keys.
  • Prioritize Key Affixes: Learn how Bargain, Fortified/Tyrannical, and Guile impact your runs.
  • Don’t Waste Upgrades on Low Keys: Save Valorstones and Crests for higher item level gear rather than upgrading early-season pieces.
  • Cap Your Crests Weekly: With the reworked crest system, farming Gilded Harbinger Crests from Mythic 7+ will be crucial for high-end upgrades.
  • Aim for Mythic 6+ Runs: This is the earliest level where Hero-track gear starts to drop, making it an ideal difficulty for farming.

In order to get a great mythic plus team for any key level, just press here and hire our players to do the required amount of Mythic Plus Dungeon Boost Runs for you. As usual, you can still select most convenient time of your run, add loot traders and select specific dungeons on a product page.

The Best Raiding Gear from Liberation of Undermine Raid

With The War Within Season 2, the Liberation of Undermine raid replaces Nerub'ar Palace as the new premier raid for top-tier gear. This 8-boss raid throws players into the fast-paced, mech-filled chaos of Undermine.

For the best loot, aim to clear multiple bosses on different difficulties. Completing the raid boosts your chances of scoring high-level gear and earning powerful upgrades from the Great Vault each week.

Here’s a quick look at the item levels you can obtain from the different difficulty levels in theLiberation of Undermine Raid:

Difficulty Type Boss 1 Bosses 2-4 Bosses 5-6 Bosses 7-8
LFR Regular 623 626 629 632

Very Rare 665 665 665
Mythic Regular 662 665 668 672

In The War Within Season 2, raiding gear from Liberation of Undermine can be obtained and upgraded through the Puzzling Cartel Chips, a Dinar-like currency introduced in this raid’s Gallagio Loyalty Rewards Club. At Renown 17 and 19, players can earn Puzzling Cartel Chips, which allow them to purchase specific raid gear (678 item level) of their choice.

Liberation of Undermine sticks with Group Loot, letting eligible players roll for rewards, keeping things fair and strategic. On top of that, the Gallagio Loyalty Rewards Club offers extra perks like gear upgrades and consumables through its Renown track. Want more boss details? Check out the Liberation of Undermine Raid Guide!

Raid BoEs: A Smart Gear Choice

Raid Bind-on-Equip (BoE) gear remains a valuable gearing method in Liberation of Undermine, providing a quick way to boost item level without relying on boss drops. These rare or very rare BoE items can be looted from certain raid trash mobs and are tradeable, allowing players to purchase them from the Auction House or fellow raiders.

  • Item Level: Raid BoEs in Liberation of Undermine scale based on difficulty, ranging from 636 (Normal) to 662 (Mythic).
  • Cost: Prices vary depending on demand and server economy, but high-end BoEs can easily exceed 200K+ gold per piece.
  • Availability: Some BoEs drop from specific elite trash mobs, while others can appear as very rare boss loot with unique effects.
  • Upgrading: Players can upgrade certain BoEs using Puzzling Cartel Chips and raid upgrade materials, increasing their power.

Delves Gear in The War Within

In The War Within Season 2, Delves continue to be one of the best PvE gearing methods, offering a structured way to progress your character's item level. With the new Bountiful Delves system and updated loot scaling, players can now acquire Hero-track gear and upgrade materials more efficiently than ever.

Unlike Season 1, where higher-tier Delves mainly provided challenge-based rewards, Season 2 offers tangible gear progression with increased Great Vault integration. The loot system has been refined, ensuring that every level of Delve contributes meaningfully to your gearing path.

  • Non-Bountiful Delves: Now grant Item Level 593 non-upgradeable gear across all tiers.
  • Bountiful Delves: Completing higher-tier Bountiful Delves grants progressively better loot, making them a viable alternative to Mythic+ dungeons for players who prefer solo or small-group PvE content.

How to get Delves Rewards

With stronger baseline rewards, a reworked loot table, and direct Great Vault integration, Delves have evolved into a core gearing method in The War Within Season 2.

  • Tier 11 Delves: Successfully completing a Tier 11 Delve while keeping lives remaining unlocks an exclusive Treasure Room stash containing 6 Gilded Undermine Crests (used for high-end gear upgrades).
  • Weekly Cap: Players can earn up to 18 Gilded Undermine Crests per week from Delves.
  • Runed Crests: Delves at Tier 9 and above provide an increased number of Runed Crests, making them a prime farming source for gear upgrades.

One of the biggest improvements in Season 2 is the introduction of higher-tier crests through Delves, including the coveted Gilded Undermine Crests. Before, these were locked to high Mythic+ and Mythic Raids, but now you can farm them in Gilded Stash (Tier 11) and Delver’s Bounty (Tier 8+), making Delves a solid endgame PvE option. Crafted Gear - Craft and Upgrade your Gear in The War Within Season 2

Crafting is great because you can usually find a lot of crafted items in the auction house super cheap right when you hit max level.

However, in WoW: The War Within, players can craft powerful gear ranging from 600 to 636 item level, making it highly competitive for mid-to-high-tier PvE content. By utilizing the Crafting Order system or crafting personally, you can enhance gear with Sparks and Enchanted Crests, ensuring optimal upgrades for your character’s progression.

Crafted Gear Item Level (Base) Item Level (Max)
Spark of Omens 600 613
Enchanted Weathered Crest 577 590
Enchanted Runed Crest 606 619
Enchanted Gilded Crest 623 636

Item level of a final crafted item is determined not only by additional optional reagent, but also by the quality of crafted item itself. There are a total of 5 quality ranks right now, with each rank increasing the item level of crafted item by 3-4 ilvl per each item upgrade level. Additionally to Crests and/or Spark, you can add Embelishments to your crafted items - special effects which enhance your performance.

In The War Within, there are several new Embellishments and Enhancements for crafted gear. Let's take a look at them. Remember, you can equip only two embellished items at a time, as they provide significant power boosts to your character. However, you can use any number of non-embellished crafted items alongside them.

How to upgrade your crafted gear item levels with Сrests

The crafting upgrade system in The War Within Season 2 continues the use of Harbinger Crests, but with adjustments to their acquisition and efficiency. Upgrading crafted gear remains essential for optimizing your character, and now Warband Crest Discounts make this process more accessible across all characters in your account.

With Season 2, the system has been updated to reflect new Undermine Crests, categorized as follows:

Crest Type Use Earned From
Weathered Undermine Crest Upgrades Adventurer/Veteran gear (up to 623-632 ilvl) LFR Liberation of Undermine, Heroic Season Dungeons, outdoor events, and low-tier Delves
Carved Undermine Crest Upgrades Veteran/Champion gear (up to 636-645 ilvl) Normal Liberation of Undermine, Mythic 0 dungeons, Delves (Tier 6-7), and weekly events
Runed Undermine Crest Upgrades Champion/Hero gear (up to 649-658 ilvl) Heroic Liberation of Undermine, Mythic+ 4-7, and Delves (Tier 8-11)
Gilded Undermine Crest Upgrades Hero/Myth gear (up to 662+ ilvl) Mythic Liberation of Undermine, Mythic+ 8+, Delves Tier 11 Gilded Stash

These Crests work similarly to previous Harbinger Crests, allowing players to upgrade crafted gear, raid gear, and dungeon gear.

Crafting and Recrafting with Crests

Crests are also used to craft high-end Enchanted Undermine Crests, which enhance crafted gear. These are created by Enchanters and can be used in the Crafting Order System:

Enchanted Crest Item Level Range Required Crests
Enchanted Weathered Undermine Crest 577-590 30x Weathered Crests
Enchanted Runed Undermine Crest 606-619 45x Runed Crests
Enchanted Gilded Undermine Crest 623-636 90x Gilded Crests

Get your Spark of Omens on a regular basis

In Dragonflight, professions got a big upgrade. Instead of crafting an item just once, you can now keep improving it by crafting and recrafting. This means you can make your weapons, armor, trinkets, and gear much stronger over time. Sparks were a key part of this, they let you set the minimum item level for your gear.

In The War Within Season 2, the same as in Season 1 — the system continues with reagents: Fractured Spark of Omens and Spark of Omens. These will replace the old Sparks and help you boost your crafted gear to even higher item levels.

Professions haven’t changed much from Dragonflight to The War Within, but using the new Sparks will make it easier to plan and upgrade your gear.

Crafted Epic Gear is great for anyone who is trying to craft the best gear possible that's why we think it is absolutely mandatory to have. And if you have troubles in getting required amount of Spark of Omens to craft the most powerful crafted gear, simply use our Awakened Crest Farm Boost service and our pro players will handle all the routine.

Farm Season 2 PvP Gear for Conquest and Honor

Season 2 of The War Within continues Blizzard’s PvP gearing improvements, making it easier for players to earn and upgrade their PvP gear through Conquest and Honor points. With the removal of time-gated weekly rewards from the Great Vault, players now have greater flexibility in obtaining their best PvP gear.

One of the biggest changes in Season 2 is the revised crafted PvP gear system. Players can now craft powerful PvP gear using Honor and Conquest-based reagents, making gearing even faster. Additionally, PvP recipes are no longer Bind on Pickup (BoP), meaning they can be traded and sold on the Auction House.

Here's the latest info on item levels for PvP gear:

Gear Type PvP Item Level PvE Item Level
Crafted PvP Gear 606 545
Honor Gear 619 558
War Mode Gear (Bloody Token) 629 593
Conquest Gear 632 619

The crafted PvP gear system now includes:

  • Honor and Conquest Reagents: You’ll now use reagents bought with Honor and Conquest points to craft PvP gear. This makes it easier to get high-level gear if you have the right currency.
  • Auction House Trading: Recipes for crafted PvP gear can be bought for Honor and sold on the Auction House. They are not Bind on Pickup (BoP), so you can trade them or sell them to other players.
  • One-Time Recipe Purchases: Once you buy a recipe, you don’t need to buy it again each season. But you will need to recraft the gear to keep its item level high.
  • You can now add sockets to your PvP gear using items like the Vicious Jeweler's Setting and Vicious Bloodstone. These can be bought for Honor or earned through PvP matches and War Mode activities. This lets you enhance your PvP gear without needing to do PvE content, so you can focus on PvP progression.

In Dornogal, you’ll find the main PvP vendors:

You can get Honor Gear by spending Honor points from PvP activities. The item level for Honor Gear is 619 for PvP and 558 for PvE, making it a good choice for both PvP and PvE content.
