How Gearing Actually Works in Midnight Season 2

💠 Mistcrests, Gear Tracks and the Upgrade Grind
Season 2 gear sits on five tracks with six ranks each. You upgrade a piece one rank at a time with the Mistcrests of its track and some gold. Once a piece reaches 6/6 it stays on its track, and extra crests won't move it to the next one.
- Adventurer – ilvl 266 to 282, upgraded with Adventurer Mistcrests.
- Veteran – ilvl 279 to 295, the track of Raid Finder loot.
- Champion – ilvl 292 to 308, from Normal raids and Bountiful Delves from Tier 8; Mythic+ 2–3 gives Champion Mistcrests.
- Hero – ilvl 305 to 321, from Heroic raids and the Delves Vault; Mythic+ 4–8 gives Hero Mistcrests.
- Myth – ilvl 318 to 334, from Mythic raids and the Heroic raid Vault; Mythic+ 9 and higher gives Myth Mistcrests.
A +10 key drops 311 at the end of the run and offers 318 in the Great Vault. Those are starting levels, and the track decides how far the piece can grow. Blizzard has announced that the Mistcrest cap ends in the week of 20 October in the US and 21 October in the EU, together with Ascendant Venomstones for fully upgraded Hero and Myth gear.

- Bountiful Delves – the solo lane for gear. From Tier 8 the coffer gives Champion gear at 295, and the Vault offers Hero gear at 305.
- Prey Hunts – they count toward the World row of the Vault, and the Prey Journey adds bonus Champion gear at rank 4 and Hero gear at rank 9, once a week each.
- Crafting – a maximum-quality Spark of Tides craft starts at 305 and reaches 318 with Hero Mistcrests or 331 with Myth Mistcrests, which makes it a reliable way to fill a weapon or jewelry slot.
- PvP – Honor and Conquest vendor gear has fixed item levels, so you know what you're earning before you queue.
The Great Vault ties it all together. Raids open options at 2, 4 and 6 bosses, dungeons at 1, 4 and 8 runs, and world activities such as Delves and Prey at 2, 4 and 8. After the weekly reset you pick one reward from all options, so more filled rows give you more choice, though no Vault can promise a specific slot or tier piece. Every key from our Mythic+ boost counts toward the Dungeon row.
Fastest Routes to Gear Up in WoW Midnight

Season 2 has two current raids: the eight-boss Venomous Abyss and The Unbinding of Kith'ix. Tier pieces come from the Venomous Abyss and from the Catalyst, which turns items in the five set slots (head, shoulders, chest, hands and legs) into tier. The raid Vault gives the first rank of the next track, so a Heroic Vault choice is a Myth 1/6 piece.
In raid gear orders the boosters save Catalyst charges for the set slots your raid drops haven't filled, and they don't convert a piece below Hero track once Heroic is open for you.
💠 Mythic+ Gearing Path – The Vault Machine
M+ is the gearing engine for players who want to control their weekly progress. The breakpoints in Season 2:
- M+ 2–3 – Champion Mistcrests, 295 end-of-run loot and 305 in the Vault.
- M+ 4–8 – Hero Mistcrests, 298 to 308 end-of-run loot.
- M+ 9+ – Myth Mistcrests.
- +10 and higher – 311 end-of-run loot and 318 in the Vault, the highest Vault reward from keys.
Keys above +10 don't raise the Vault reward or the crest track. For gearing, eight timed +10s open all three Dungeon options at 318, while two +15s open one. That's why the Mythic+ gear boost runs many keys at the right level instead of pushing higher than gearing needs.
💠 Solo Gearing Path – Delves, Prey Hunts and World Content
Solo gearing in Season 2 runs through Bountiful Delves. From Tier 8 the Bountiful Coffer gives Champion gear at 295, while Trovehunter's Bounty and the Great Vault give Hero gear at 305. Tier 11 has the same base loot, but at Delver's Journey rank 4 it opens Gilded Stashes with Hero and Myth Mistcrests, and rank 9 adds a chance at Hero gear in its coffers.
The weekly mix that works for solo players is Bountiful Delves and Prey Hunts for the World row of the Vault, plus world events for quick weekly caches. Eight Delves at Tier 8 or higher open all three World options at Hero 305 without a raid or a keystone dungeon.

Vendor gear for Honor and Conquest has fixed item levels without luck, so you know what you're earning before you queue. Rated PvP also helps with tier: reaching 1600 rated PvP is one of the ways to an extra Catalyst charge through the Serpent Scion, next to 2000 Mythic+ rating and the last Heroic or Mythic raid boss.
