WoW Forever Skinning Leveling Guide 1–300

Skin every beast you kill and Skinning keeps up with your level. In Classic a beast above level 20 needs its level times 5 in skill, so 300 opens the level 60 beasts. Train at 50, 125 and 200 and work from Light Leather in the Barrens to Rugged Leather in Winterspring.

Skinning leveling route from 1 to 300

Skin everything you kill on the way. When your skill falls behind, each step shows the best beasts for its leather by zone and how often a skin gives that leather.

What Forever changes for skinners

FAQ

How do I level Skinning fast in WoW Forever?

Skin every beast you kill while you level and your skill stays close to your level on its own. Train the next rank at 50, 125 and 200. If you fall behind, farm the beasts of the route above, for example in the Barrens, Stranglethorn Vale and Un'Goro Crater. If you would rather not farm them at all, a WoW Forever Skinning boost trains the skill on your character, the full 1–300 or just the range you are missing.

What Skinning skill do I need for a beast?

In Classic any beast up to level 10 works at skill 1. Up to level 20 you need 10 more points per level, after that the beast's level times 5: 150 for level 30, 250 for level 50 and 300 for level 60.

Can two players skin the same beast?

No. Since the beta update of October 1 a creature can be skinned only once, then it disappears. Whoever skins first gets the leather.

Where do I train Artisan Skinning?

From a skinning trainer once you have skill 200 and level 35, as in Classic. The World Map shows all 23 skinning trainers, 6 of them the new Junior Skinning Trainers of the starting areas.

What do I need to skin?

A Skinning Knife in your bags, nothing else. Each rank raises your cap by 75: Apprentice 75, Journeyman 150, Expert 225 and Artisan 300.

Which leather does Leatherworking need most?

The route from 1 to 300 in our profession tool needs about 787 Light Leather, 508 Heavy Leather, 463 Thick Leather and 538 Rugged Leather. Skinning it yourself saves a lot of gold.

Does Skinning give Legacy points?

No. Profession Legacy points come only from skill 150, 225 and 300 in the six crafting professions. For a skinner the Legacy perk that pays is Bountiful Harvest, with up to 100% more Scarce materials such as Pristine Leather.

Is there gear that raises Skinning?

Yes, the glove enchant Enchant Gloves - Advanced Skinning is new in Forever and gives +10 Skinning, enchanters learn it at 270. It lets you skin beasts before your skill gets there.
