Seals: which rank upgrades which piece

Every Epic piece starts as the Rare piece of its slot. The seal of that slot makes it Epic, and the seal needs your rank. The week is the earliest week of a season that allows that rank. Head and chest need rank 13, so the full Epic set takes most of a season. If your evenings are short, you can hire a WoW Forever PvP booster by the hour for the battlegrounds.

You can hold at most 25,000 Honor at a time, so a whole Rare set takes several trips to the vendor. The seals come on top once your rank allows them.

Where to buy PvP gear

You buy the honor gear from the honor quartermasters in the PvP hall of your capital: the Champions' Hall in Stormwind for the Alliance, the Hall of Legends in Orgrimmar for the Horde. Each hall has a quartermaster for armor, one for weapons and one for officer accessories.

The old rank gear

Of 979 rank items from Classic, 449 are still in the client and 520 are gone, and 88 old PvP sets sit beside the new ones. Whether you can still buy them shows once the vendors open with the launch on November 4.

PvP gear FAQ

Do I need a PvP rank for the Rare PvP sets?

No. The Rare Premier pieces need level 55 and no rank. Your rank unlocks the seals that turn them into Epic pieces.

What is the BiS PvP gear for my class?

The Epic Premier set of your class and a rank 14 weapon are the strongest PvP gear the client holds. A best-in-slot list per spec follows once players have tested the stats at the vendors.

Do I keep my PvP gear in a new season?

Blizzard has not said. The honor track starts over every season or tier, but nothing published says your gear goes away.

What changed

Updated

  • The PvP pages no longer wait for more battlegrounds or vendors in the beta: Blizzard has not said when the other battlegrounds open, and the vendors open with the launch on November 4.

  • New FAQ answers: rated PvP, PvP alone, dishonorable kills, where you see your rank, what resets each season, BiS gear, the Call to Arms week, the 2,000 point win score and how German players find each other without realms.

  • The insignia trinket at rank 2, the cloak at rank 3 and the necklace at rank 4, the rank 14 weapons by faction with their type, and where the honor quartermasters stand in Stormwind and Orgrimmar.
