WoW Forever Battlegrounds

WoW Forever has four battlegrounds: Warsong Gulch from level 10, Arathi Basin from 20, Darkspear Islands from 30 and Alterac Valley from 51. You join at a battlemaster in any capital, alone or with a group. Each one pays its own Mark of Honor and has a reputation pair whose quartermasters sell the rewards.

Blizzard has not published the brackets of Forever. The beta client splits Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin and Darkspear Islands into brackets of ten levels. Alterac Valley has one bracket from 51 to 60. Classic used the same brackets. We check them again at launch on November 4.

Honor and Marks before 60

  • From level 30 to 50 you collect Marks of Honor in three battlegrounds: Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin and Darkspear Islands. From 51 the Alterac Valley Marks join them.

  • The Rare PvP pieces, cloaks and necklaces need level 55, so your Honor waits until then. You can hold up to 25,000.

  • Save your Marks for 55 as well: a Rare piece costs 10 to 15 of them on top of the Honor.

  • From 55, a whole Rare set of 8 pieces costs 59,200 Honor plus Marks of all four battlegrounds. Plan the cost.

How much Honor and how many Rank Points a match gives in each bracket. We add it once the first matches after the launch on November 4 show it.

What changes at 60

  • Warsong Gulch, Arathi Basin and Darkspear Islands have a bracket for level 60 only. Nothing changes in Alterac Valley.

How to join a battleground

  • Queue at a battlemaster in a capital: Stormwind City, Ironforge, Darnassus for the Alliance, Orgrimmar, Undercity, Thunder Bluff for the Horde.

  • Darkspear Islands also has its own queue at your faction's base in The Barrens: Merchant Coast for the Horde, Northwatch for the Alliance. More on the page about the Darkspear Islands battleground.

  • You can queue alone or as a group: up to 10 players for Warsong Gulch, 15 for Arathi Basin and Darkspear Islands, 5 for Alterac Valley.

Marks of Honor

Every battleground pays its own Mark of Honor, 3 for a win and 1 for a loss. You need them next to Honor for the PvP gear, and each slot asks for the Marks of one battleground.

You can carry up to 30 Marks of each battleground, up from 20. Spend them before you hit the limit.

Which battleground gives the most Honor?

None by design any more: Blizzard evened out the Honor of the battlegrounds on October 7. Only the battleground of the holiday week gives more. What Honor and Rank Points do is on the page about honor ranks and rank 14.

How many Marks of Honor do I get per battleground?

Players report 3 Marks for a win and 1 for a loss, in every battleground. Each battleground pays its own Mark. You can carry up to 30 Marks of each battleground.

Do battlegrounds mix players of different rulesets?

Yes. Blizzard said battlegrounds mix every ruleset except Hardcore, so PvP and Normal players fight in the same matches.

Which battleground has the holiday bonus this week?

The client holds a weekly Call to Arms rotation: Darkspear Islands, Arathi Basin and Warsong Gulch take turns, one week each, and the battleground of the week gives more Honor and Rank Points. Alterac Valley is not part of it in the client.

  • New block for levels 30 to 59: pick your level and see your bracket in each battleground, the rewards you can wear, what your Honor and Marks are for and what changes at 60.

  • The PvP pages no longer wait for more battlegrounds or vendors in the beta: Blizzard has not said when the other battlegrounds open, and the vendors open with the launch on November 4.

  • Marks of Honor stack to 30 now, up from 20. Nine Alterac Valley rewards and the four Arathi Basin weapons need level 55 instead of 60, The Immovable Object and Don Rodrigo's Band stay at 60.
