Profession LevelingAny profession 1 to 300 with a shopping listPristine Leather comes from beasts of level 10 to 26, and more than a third of the loots recorded in the beta came from The Barrens. It is one of nine Scarce materials new in Forever, three each from Skinning, Herbalism and Mining. Here is where each one dropped, what it goes into and what it sold for.
From gathering, on top of the yieldBeta data
The tooltip shows Scarce under the item name. The client ties these materials to Mining, Herbalism and Skinning: now and then a herb, a vein or a skinned beast gives one on top of the normal yield. They are green crafting reagents that stack to 20.
The Legacy perk Bountiful Harvest adds 20 percent per rank, twice as many at rank 5. Open the Legacy calculator.
Low characters get themPlayer report
Testers on the beta forums found that characters above about level 25 got hardly any, and their level 30 characters none in hours of gathering. One got 6 Frilled Lichen from level 25 to 26 and none from 150 more herbs after that. Blizzard has not said a word about it, so treat it as a strong hint, not a rule.
Bountiful Harvest is in doubtBeta
Several beta players got no Scarce materials at all after they took the perk. Nobody knows yet whether that was their level, bad luck or a bug. Wait for the first launch reports before you spend Legacy Points on it for this.
Wowhead recorded 699 Pristine Leather loots in the beta, from 104 creatures of level 10 to 26, 91 percent of them beasts. It files most of them as drops and only 10 as skinning loot, but the players who farmed it skinned every beast, so bring Skinning. The counts show where players found it, not a drop rate. Beta

No spawn points on the map for this one.
The map shows the spawns of the beasts the Farming Atlas lists for Pristine Leather.
In each profession the three go from low to high, top to bottom. Recipes need each one from a certain skill on, and so far each dropped from herbs, veins or beasts of about that range. The low ones dropped a lot in the beta, the middle ones little or nothing, the high ones nothing at all. The beta only goes to level 30. Collecting enough of them for those recipes can take many evenings. If you would rather skip that, the WoW Forever professions boost levels your crafting skill for you.

Testers on the beta forums found that characters above about level 25 got hardly any, and their level 30 characters none at all. Blizzard has not confirmed a rule. Farm it on a low character and skin every beast, grey ones too.
126 recipes: 80 in Leatherworking, 30 in Blacksmithing and 16 in Tailoring, the first at skill 80. Almost all of them are new Forever patterns.
Nine new crafting materials with the Scarce tag in the tooltip: Pristine Leather, Hide and Scale from Skinning, Frilled Lichen, Rosecap and Stranglevine from Herbalism, Pyrite, Bauxite and Pitchblende from Mining. They come now and then on top of the normal yield.
From Earthroot, Mageroyal, Briarthorn and Bruiseweed, the herbs of Herbalism 15 to 100. Alchemists turn 2 of them and an Empty Vial into Cerulean Dye.

Pristine Hide turned up on beasts of level 25 to 34, a few in Razorfen Kraul, Scarlet Monastery, Blackfathom Deeps and the Wetlands. The beta recorded no source for Pristine Scale. In the beta Mister Graphed sold the Hide for 20g and the Scale for 50g.
Checked Oct 21, 2026. Loot counts from the item pages of Wowhead Forever (beta loot), recipes and the Scarce tag from the client, beta prices from the auction house snapshot of October 13 (gold guide), the level rule from Blizzard forum threads. Sources: Wowhead Forever, Blizzard forums.
