What a Legacy Challenge is

A Legacy Challenge is a goal the game tracks for your account: level 60 with a class, skill 300 in a profession or the final boss of a row of dungeons. Each one pays exactly 1 Legacy Point, which every non-Hardcore character on the account spends on Legacy perks.

There are no titles, items or achievement points for them. The game keeps every challenge twice, once for the normal rulesets and once for Hardcore. Here each one is listed once.

One character or many

Without alts one character reaches about 29 points: 3 from its class, 6 from two crafting professions, 12 from PvP, 2 from Adventure and 6 from dungeons and raids. The other 36 need more characters, because every class and every profession counts once per account.

Spending cap and reward track

A character spends at most 16 points at launch. Everything above still counts for the reward track: cosmetics at 15, 25, 40 and 55 points, the last one the Spectral Bear mount.

Hardcore

Hardcore keeps its own copy of the list. What you finish on Normal, PvP or Roleplaying realms does not count there, but a Hardcore challenge counts on the other realms too. PvP is not possible in Hardcore, so Blizzard plans 12 challenges of its own for it.

FAQ

What are Legacy Challenges in WoW Forever?

The achievements of WoW Forever. Each one tracks a goal for your account, like level 60 with a class, skill 300 in a profession or the final bosses of a dungeon bracket, and pays 1 Legacy Point. Every non-Hardcore character on the account can spend it on Legacy perks.

How many Legacy Challenges are there?

65 at launch in six groups: Classes 27, Tradeskills 18, Player vs. Player 12, Dungeons 3, Raids 3 and Adventure 2. Blizzard plans more with later content.

Which Legacy Challenges can I not finish at launch?

10 of them: the three raid challenges wait for the raids on December 9, 2026, and PvP ranks 7, 10, 13 and 14 plus Field of Honor weeks 4, 7 and 10 wait for their stage of the PvP season. That leaves 55 points open on launch day.

How many Legacy Points can one character earn alone?

About 29: 3 from its class, 6 from two crafting professions, 12 from PvP, 2 from Adventure and 6 from dungeons and raids. The rest needs more characters, because every class and every profession counts once per account.

Do Legacy Challenges give titles or items?

No, only Legacy Points. Cosmetics come from the reward track for all the points your account has earned: an air rifle at 15, a pet at 25, a tabard at 40 and the Spectral Bear mount at 55.

How do Legacy Challenges work on Hardcore realms?

Hardcore keeps its own list. What you finish on Normal, PvP or Roleplaying realms does not count there, but a challenge finished in Hardcore counts on the other realms too. PvP is not possible in Hardcore, so Blizzard plans 12 Hardcore challenges of their own.

As of Oct 2, 2026.
