Priest rotation in WoW Forever

4 Priest fights in the trainer: Shadow at level 20, Discipline at level 20, Shadow at level 60 and Discipline at level 60.

  • ManaMana is the long game. Keep your damage over time effects ticking, use your big cooldowns on time and fill the gaps with your cheapest spell.

Keep going with the Talent Calculator, your Talent Path and everything about the Priest.

Shadow at level 20

Training dummy

Wand and staff, about 25 spell power, a near pure Shadow Talent Path for Mind Flay at 20.

Action bar

Opener

Shadow Word: PainMind BlastDevouring PlagueMind Flay

Priority

  1. Shadow Word: Pain on the target, damage that runs on its own for 24 seconds with Improved Shadow Word: Pain.

  2. Mind Blast on cooldown, your hardest hit.

  3. Devouring Plague on cooldown: a DoT that heals you, baseline for every Priest in Forever.

  4. Mind Flay fills the gaps between cooldowns.

  5. Shoot: Wand between casts: free, and it does not stop your Spirit regeneration. Spell power does not raise its damage in the beta.

Tips

  • Power Word: Shield before you pull, not after the enemy is already swinging.
  • Mind Flay at 20 needs almost all your points in Shadow, the talent sits on row 2.
  • Shadowform comes at 40 and Shadow Word: Death at 32, so damage stays modest until then.

Discipline at level 20

Training dummy

Wand and staff, about 25 spell power, your Talent Path talents at 20.

Action bar

Opener

Holy FireShadow Word: PainMind BlastSmite

Priority

  1. Holy Fire to open: a big hit plus a burn, your strongest opener at 20.

  2. Shadow Word: Pain for free background damage.

  3. Mind Blast on cooldown, your hardest single hit.

  4. Smite as filler while your mana is healthy.

  5. Shoot: Wand between casts: free, and it does not stop your Spirit regeneration. Spell power does not raise its damage in the beta.

Tips

  • Discipline solos almost anything at this level thanks to the shield and Renew. Not faster than Shadow, just safer.
  • Renew lets you keep attacking instead of standing still to heal.
  • Holy uses the same solo rotation while leveling. In a group it heals, and a dummy cannot show that job.

Shadow at level 60

Training dummy

Staff and wand, about 450 spell power, Shadowform, the Shadow PvE build.

Action bar

Opener

Shadow Word: PainMind BlastDevouring PlagueMind Flay

Priority

  1. Shadow Word: Pain up at all times, half price in Shadowform.

  2. Devouring Plague on cooldown: a big DoT that heals you.

  3. Target under 20%: Shadow Word: Death. If it does not kill, you take 10% of your health, so only at the end.

  4. Mind Blast on cooldown, never let it sit.

  5. Mind Flay fills everything in between.

Tips

  • Vampiric Embrace heals your group for 20% of your Shadow damage. On a dummy you do not see that, in a group it matters.
  • Shadowform halves the mana cost of your Shadow spells, so stay in it for the whole fight.
  • Shadow Weaving only boosts your own Shadow damage in Forever, not the whole raid.

Discipline at level 60

Training dummy

Staff and wand, about 400 spell power, the Discipline PvE build with Penance.

Action bar

Opener

Holy FirePenanceMind BlastShadow Word: Pain

Priority

  1. Penance on cooldown: three fast Holy pulses. It can also heal an ally if the fight goes wrong.

  2. Holy Fire when its burn is gone: a big hit plus damage over time.

  3. Mind Blast on cooldown.

  4. Shadow Word: Pain for background damage.

  5. Smite as your filler.

Tips

  • Divine Aegis shields your target whenever one of your heals crits. On a dummy it does nothing, in a group it is huge.
  • Discipline is the easiest and safest Priest to solo with.
  • In a raid the Holy Priest heals with Heal, Flash Heal and the new Prayer of Mending. The dummy cannot show that job.

Rotation questions

What is the best Priest rotation in WoW Forever?

For example Shadow at level 60: open with Shadow Word: Pain, Mind Blast, Devouring Plague, Mind Flay, then mostly Shadow Word: Pain, Devouring Plague, Mind Blast and Mind Flay. The trainer shows every button with the reason behind it.

How do you play a Priest at level 20?

Shadow at level 20: open with Shadow Word: Pain, Mind Blast, Devouring Plague, Mind Flay, then Shadow Word: Pain, Mind Blast, Devouring Plague and Mind Flay. The beta is open to level 30 now.

How does the Rotation Trainer work?

A training dummy with endless health. You play it yourself with the mouse, by tapping or on your own keys. With Autoplay the priority list presses the buttons and explains each one.

Can I play the rotation myself?

Yes, that is how the trainer starts. The glowing button is your first press, tips show the next one after that, and a comparison measures your damage against the priority list.

Which fights can I practise as a Priest?

Shadow at level 20, Discipline at level 20, Shadow at level 60 and Discipline at level 60.

What resource does the Priest use?

Mana. The trainer shows live how it changes with every button.

Why a training dummy and not a boss?

The dummy never dies, so you practise the rotation without time pressure and see every step. Effects that need a kill stay dark here.

What does the "Target under 20%" switch do?

It sets the dummy to low health. Then the buttons for the end of a fight join in: Shadow Word: Death.

Are the numbers in the trainer exact?

Costs, cooldowns and effects of the buttons come from Forever. The damage is a rounded example, and level 60 is not open in the beta yet.

Which gear and talents does the trainer assume?

Shadow at level 20: Wand and staff, about 25 spell power, a near pure Shadow Talent Path for Mind Flay at 20. Shadow at level 60: Staff and wand, about 450 spell power, Shadowform, the Shadow PvE build.

Short on time for leveling?

Every guide here shows how to do it yourself. If your evenings are short, our boosters take the grind off your hands. Options and current prices are on each service page.
