Hunter rotation in WoW Forever

4 Hunter fights in the trainer: Beast Mastery at level 20, Beast Mastery at level 60, Marksmanship at level 60 and Survival at level 60.

  • ManaMana is the long game. Keep your damage over time effects ticking, use your big cooldowns on time and fill the gaps with your cheapest spell.

Keep going with the Talent Calculator, your Talent Path and everything about the Hunter.

Beast Mastery at level 20

Training dummy, your pet on it

Bow, 2.8 sec shot, Aspect of the Hawk, a Boar or Cat at your level, your Talent Path talents at 20.

Action bar

Opener

Hunter's MarkSerpent StingAimed Shot

Priority

  1. Hunter's Mark once at the pull: more Ranged Attack Power for everyone who hits the target.

  2. Serpent Sting on anything that lives a while. It ticks on its own for 15 seconds.

  3. Aimed Shot on cooldown, your hardest hit at 20. Auto Shot keeps firing while you aim.

  4. Arcane Shot while Aimed Shot is on cooldown. Keep a bit of mana for the next Sting.

Tips

  • Send your pet in first and wait a moment before you shoot, so the enemy stays on your pet.
  • Auto Shot is free and never stops in Forever. Every other shot and your Aspect cost mana.
  • A Boar makes a great first pet: its Charge grabs the enemy fast so you shoot sooner.

Beast Mastery at level 60

Training dummy, your pet on it

Bow, 3.0 sec shot, a well fed level 60 pet with Frenzy, the Beast Mastery build.

Action bar

Opener

Hunter's MarkSerpent StingBestial WrathAimed ShotSummon Hawk

Priority

  1. Hunter's Mark once at the pull.

  2. Serpent Sting whenever it falls off, free ticking damage.

  3. Bestial Wrath at the start of a long fight: 50% more pet damage for 18 seconds.

  4. Aimed Shot on cooldown, still your hardest hit at 60.

  5. Summon Hawk: it keeps diving at the target for 18 seconds. It shares a cooldown with Arcane Shot.

  6. Arcane Shot when a hawk is already out.

Tips

  • You juggle two cooldown pairs: Aimed Shot with Multi-Shot, Summon Hawk with Arcane Shot.
  • On packs Multi-Shot replaces Aimed Shot, they share the cooldown.
  • Keep Bestial Wrath for a pull that lasts the full 18 seconds.

Marksmanship at level 60

Training dummy

Bow, 3.0 sec shot, no pet out for Lone Wolf, the Aimed Shot Marksmanship build.

Action bar

Opener

Hunter's MarkSerpent StingAimed ShotSniper Shot

Priority

  1. Hunter's Mark once at the pull.

  2. Serpent Sting whenever it falls off.

  3. Aimed Shot on cooldown. Mortal Shots and Careful Aim make it your main hit.

  4. Sniper Shot when you can stand still for 4 seconds: 295 extra damage on the shot.

  5. Arcane Shot to fill the gap while Aimed Shot is down.

Tips

  • Lone Wolf adds 20% damage while no pet is out, so this build is stronger with the pet dismissed.
  • Sniper Shot has a 4 second cast, a 15 second cooldown and a 45 yard range. For 10 seconds after it your next three shots reach 10 yards farther.
  • Careful Aim turns Intellect into Attack Power, so Intellect gear is not wasted on you.

Survival at level 60

Training dummy that swings back

Two one-handers, 2.6 and 2.4 sec swing, the melee Survival build with Predator's Edge.

Action bar

Opener

Serpent StingRaptor StrikeStrider Kick

Priority

  1. You dodged: Mongoose Bite lights up. A free hit, and Lacerating Strikes adds a bleed.

  2. You parried: Counterattack hits and roots the target for 5 seconds.

  3. Strider Kick on cooldown, a full weapon hit every 8 seconds.

  4. Serpent Sting works in melee range too: ticking damage while your hands are busy.

  5. Raptor Strike on cooldown, it lands with your next swing.

Tips

  • Predator's Edge adds 50% off-hand damage, so a strong off-hand pays twice in this build.
  • Dodges and parries light your best buttons. Deterrence adds 25% to both for 10 seconds.
  • This build is melee first with a ranged weapon as backup, not the ranged Survival of older guides.

Rotation questions

What is the best Hunter rotation in WoW Forever?

For example Beast Mastery at level 60: open with Hunter's Mark, Serpent Sting, Bestial Wrath, Aimed Shot, Summon Hawk, then mostly Serpent Sting, Aimed Shot, Summon Hawk and Arcane Shot. The trainer shows every button with the reason behind it.

How do you play a Hunter at level 20?

Beast Mastery at level 20: open with Hunter's Mark, Serpent Sting, Aimed Shot, then Serpent Sting, Aimed Shot and Arcane Shot. The beta is open to level 30 now.

How does the Rotation Trainer work?

A training dummy with endless health. You play it yourself with the mouse, by tapping or on your own keys. With Autoplay the priority list presses the buttons and explains each one.

Can I play the rotation myself?

Yes, that is how the trainer starts. The glowing button is your first press, tips show the next one after that, and a comparison measures your damage against the priority list.

Which fights can I practise as a Hunter?

Beast Mastery at level 20, Beast Mastery at level 60, Marksmanship at level 60 and Survival at level 60.

What resource does the Hunter use?

Mana. The trainer shows live how it changes with every button.

Why a training dummy and not a boss?

The dummy never dies, so you practise the rotation without time pressure and see every step. Effects that need a kill stay dark here.

Is there a button for the end of a fight?

The Hunter has no execute button in these fights, the rotation stays the same to the end.

Are the numbers in the trainer exact?

Costs, cooldowns and effects of the buttons come from Forever. The damage is a rounded example, and level 60 is not open in the beta yet.

Which gear and talents does the trainer assume?

Beast Mastery at level 20: Bow, 2.8 sec shot, Aspect of the Hawk, a Boar or Cat at your level, your Talent Path talents at 20. Beast Mastery at level 60: Bow, 3.0 sec shot, a well fed level 60 pet with Frenzy, the Beast Mastery build.

Short on time for leveling?

Every guide here shows how to do it yourself. If your evenings are short, our boosters take the grind off your hands. Options and current prices are on each service page.
