Warrior rotation in WoW Forever

5 Warrior fights in the trainer: Arms at level 20, Protection at level 20, Arms at level 60, Fury at level 60 and Protection at level 60.

  • RageRage starts empty and fills up as you hit and get hit. Spend it on the buttons near the top of the list and only dump it into filler when it piles up.

Keep going with the Talent Calculator, your Talent Path and everything about the Warrior.

Arms at level 20

Training dummy

Two-handed axe, 3.5 sec swing, your Talent Path talents at 20.

Action bar

Opener

ChargeRendThunder ClapSunder Armor

Priority

  1. Charge in. It stuns for a moment and fills your empty Rage bar.

  2. Bloodrage when you run dry: 10 Rage now and 10 more over 10 seconds.

  3. Keep Battle Shout up. It lasts 3 minutes in Forever.

  4. Rend on anything that lives longer than 10 seconds. In Forever it can crit.

  5. The target dodged: Overpower lights up for 5 seconds. Cheap, and it cannot be dodged.

  6. Slam right after a swing. The swing timer shows when, and the cast pushes your next swing back.

  7. Thunder Clap slows enemy attacks by 20% in Forever. Keep it up.

  8. Nothing else is ready: a few Sunder Armors make every hit land harder.

  9. Heroic Strike only with spare Rage. The swing it replaces gives you no Rage.

Tips

  • Your first swing lands 0.6 seconds after Charge, so Rend and Thunder Clap go out before you run dry.
  • After every kill Victory Rush lights up for 20 seconds: free damage and 10% of your health back. A dummy never dies, so it stays dark here.

Protection at level 20

Tanking dummy, it hits back

One-hander, 2.6 sec swing, shield, your Talent Path talents at 20.

Action bar

Opener

ChargeDefensive StanceBloodrageShield BlockRevenge

Priority

  1. Charge from Battle Stance. Vanguard lets you do it in Defensive Stance from level 25.

  2. Swap to Defensive Stance at once. Tactical Mastery keeps up to 10 Rage.

  3. Bloodrage right away: with Improved Bloodrage it gives 15 Rage now and 15 more over 10 seconds.

  4. Shield Block stops the next two hits. Each block gives 5 Rage back, so it pays for itself.

  5. You blocked, dodged or parried: Revenge is your hardest hit for 5 Rage.

  6. Thunder Clap works in Defensive Stance now and slows the boss by 20%.

  7. Demoralizing Shout once for the debuff. It puts some threat on every enemy it reaches, but it is no threat button, so do not spam it.

  8. Sunder Armor up to 5 stacks on a boss, so your group hits harder.

  9. Spare Rage and 5 Sunders: Heroic Strike for extra threat.

Tips

  • Shield Block first, then Revenge: blocks are what light up Revenge.
  • Getting hit gives you Rage, and more Stamina on your gear no longer lowers that. A tank rarely runs dry once the boss swings.

Arms at level 60

Training dummy (Dragonkin)

Two-handed axe, 3.8 sec swing, the Arms dungeon build.

Action bar

Opener

ChargeRendMortal StrikeSpearing StrikeSlam

Priority

  1. Charge in with Improved Charge for a head start on Rage.

  2. Bloodrage whenever it is ready. Rage is short at 60, only critical swings give you more of it.

  3. Under 20%: Execute. Every extra point of Rage adds 15 damage.

  4. Keep Rend up. While it bleeds, each of your swings has a 20% chance to light up Overpower through Bloodthrill.

  5. Mortal Strike every time it comes off cooldown. It is your biggest hit.

  6. Overpower is lit: press it before the 6 seconds run out.

  7. Spearing Strike works with any weapon but only in Battle Stance. Against Dragonkin, Giants and mounted enemies it deals 80% more weapon damage.

  8. Slam right after a swing, between two Mortal Strikes.

  9. Heroic Strike only when Rage piles up, never at low Rage.

Tips

  • Rage is the limit at 60: Mortal Strike and Rend come first, Heroic Strike almost never.
  • Improved Slam stops Slam from pushing back your swing and cuts its cooldown by up to 3 seconds. This fight runs without it.

Fury at level 60

Training dummy

Two one-handers, 2.7 and 2.5 sec swing, the Fury dungeon build with Furious Precision and Raging Blows.

Action bar

Opener

BloodrageDeath WishBloodthirstWhirlwind

Priority

  1. Bloodrage on cooldown. You start in Berserker Stance with an empty bar.

  2. Death Wish at the start: 20% more physical damage for 30 seconds.

  3. Execute phase: Recklessness. Every hit crits for 15 seconds, once per 30 minutes.

  4. Under 20% you only press Execute. It turns all your Rage into damage.

  5. Bloodthirst on cooldown: 45% of your Attack Power in one hit.

  6. Whirlwind between two Bloodthirsts, when it does not delay the next one.

  7. Heroic Strike only with Rage to spare. Queued at low Rage it starves Bloodthirst.

Tips

  • Rage per swing is normalised in Forever and better gear does not speed it up. A critical swing gives twice the Rage, so crit feeds your buttons.
  • Whirlwind always hits with both weapons, so a good off-hand pays off twice. Raging Blows cuts its cost by 3 Rage.
  • A queued Heroic Strike no longer raises your off-hand hit chance. Your off-hand hit comes from Furious Precision now, and Dual Wield Specialization gives your off-hand swings up to 50% more Rage in the beta client.

Protection at level 60

Tanking dummy, it hits back

One-hander, 2.6 sec swing, shield, the Protection dungeon build.

Action bar

Opener

ChargeBloodrageShield BlockShield SlamRevenge

Priority

  1. Vanguard: Charge straight from Defensive Stance.

  2. Bloodrage right away for your first presses.

  3. Shield Block keeps up almost all the time and feeds you Rage on every block.

  4. Keep Thunder Clap up: 20% slower enemy attacks for 30 seconds, on up to 4 enemies.

  5. Shield Slam on cooldown: big damage and a lot of threat.

  6. Revenge after every block, dodge or parry.

  7. Demoralizing Shout for the debuff: less damage on you and some threat on every enemy it reaches.

  8. Sunder Armor to 5 stacks so your group hits harder.

  9. Heroic Strike with the Rage you have left.

Tips

  • Shield Slam and Revenge carry your threat. Sunder Armor is for your group's damage.
  • On a pack, Thunder Clap first so every enemy is slowed, then back to your main target.

Rotation questions

What is the best Warrior rotation in WoW Forever?

For example Arms at level 60: open with Charge, Rend, Mortal Strike, Spearing Strike, Slam, then mostly Rend, Mortal Strike, Overpower and Spearing Strike. The trainer shows every button with the reason behind it.

How do you play a Warrior at level 20?

Arms at level 20: open with Charge, Rend, Thunder Clap, Sunder Armor, then Rend, Overpower, Slam and Thunder Clap. The beta is open to level 30 now.

How does the Rotation Trainer work?

A training dummy with endless health. You play it yourself with the mouse, by tapping or on your own keys. With Autoplay the priority list presses the buttons and explains each one.

Can I play the rotation myself?

Yes, that is how the trainer starts. The glowing button is your first press, tips show the next one after that, and a comparison measures your damage against the priority list.

Which fights can I practise as a Warrior?

Arms at level 20, Protection at level 20, Arms at level 60, Fury at level 60 and Protection at level 60.

What resource does the Warrior use?

Rage. The trainer shows live how it changes with every button.

Can I practise tanking as a Warrior?

Yes, in Protection at level 20. There the trainer counts threat per second instead of damage per second.

What does the "Target under 20%" switch do?

It sets the dummy to low health. Then the buttons for the end of a fight join in: Execute.

Are the numbers in the trainer exact?

Costs, cooldowns and effects of the buttons come from Forever. The damage is a rounded example, and level 60 is not open in the beta yet.

Which gear and talents does the trainer assume?

Arms at level 20: Two-handed axe, 3.5 sec swing, your Talent Path talents at 20. Arms at level 60: Two-handed axe, 3.8 sec swing, the Arms dungeon build.

Short on time for leveling?
