Druid rotation in WoW Forever

6 Druid fights in the trainer: Balance at level 20, Cat Form at level 20, Bear Form at level 20, Balance at level 60, Cat Form at level 60 and Bear Form at level 60.

  • ManaMana is the long game. Keep your damage over time effects ticking, use your big cooldowns on time and fill the gaps with your cheapest spell.
  • EnergyEnergy refills on its own over time. Builders add combo points, finishers spend them, so the fight is a rhythm of build and spend.
  • RageRage starts empty and fills up as you hit and get hit. Spend it on the buttons near the top of the list and only dump it into filler when it piles up.

Keep going with the Talent Calculator, your Talent Path and everything about the Druid.

Balance at level 20

Training dummy

Staff or a spell power weapon, your Talent Path talents at 20.

Action bar

Opener

MoonfireStarfire

Priority

  1. Moonfire first: an instant hit and damage over 12 seconds while you cast.

  2. Starfire on a long fight: slow, but your hardest hit.

  3. Wrath when mana gets tight: cheaper and faster than Starfire.

Tips

  • In the beta Wrath hits harder than it used to, and every new rank is an upgrade. That helps most at low levels, while your spell power is still small.
  • A spell power weapon is a real upgrade in Forever, caster weapons carry spell damage now.
  • Insect Swarm is a Balance talent in the fourth row, so your Talent Path takes it a few levels after 20.
  • Rejuvenation between pulls saves you a lot of drinking.

Cat Form at level 20

Training dummy

The best weapon you can hold, Cat Form scales with it in Forever, Omen of Clarity.

Action bar

Opener

ClawClawRip

Priority

  1. Rip at 5 combo points: your only finisher at 20, it bleeds the target for 12 seconds.

  2. Claw builds your combo points. Clearcasting makes the next one free.

Tips

  • Cat Form comes from a class quest at 20, so this is the very start of your cat kit.
  • Shred comes at 20 with Cat Form but only works from behind, so solo you mostly Claw. Rake and Ferocious Bite both come at 24.
  • Prowl before the pull gets you into position quietly.

Bear Form at level 20

Tanking dummy, it hits back

The best one-hander you can hold, Bear Form scales with it in Forever.

Action bar

Opener

EnrageDemoralizing RoarMaul

Priority

  1. Enrage when you start empty: Rage now and more over 10 seconds.

  2. Demoralizing Roar: less melee damage from everything around you for 30 seconds.

  3. Maul on your next swing whenever you have 15 Rage, your hardest hit and your main threat.

Tips

  • Bear Form from level 10 is the most common way to level a Druid. At launch it adds 115% threat to everything you do, Blessing of Salvation is gone.
  • Getting hit fills your Rage, and more Stamina on your gear no longer lowers that. Your critical hits give twice the Rage. On packs Swipe replaces Maul.
  • Faerie Fire works in Bear Form too: it makes threat there and pulls stealthed enemies out.

Balance at level 60

Training dummy

Spell power staff, Moonkin Form, the Balance build with Improved Wrath, Vengeance and Eclipse.

Action bar

Opener

MoonfireInsect SwarmWrathStarfire

Priority

  1. Moonfire before it drops, cheap upkeep that never costs a full cast.

  2. Insect Swarm up at all times.

  3. Eclipse from your Wrath: the next Starfire casts half a second faster. Spend the charges.

  4. Wrath otherwise: fast and cheap with Improved Wrath, and every cast charges Eclipse.

Tips

  • Vengeance and Improved Starfire both raise your crit damage, max them early.
  • You cannot cast heals in Moonkin Form. Drop it when you need more than Rejuvenation.
  • Moonkin Form gives your whole raid 3% more crit chance with attacks and spells. It does not stack with Leader of the Pack.

Cat Form at level 60

Training dummy, you stand behind it

Your best weapon, the Rend and Tear cat build with Shredding Attacks and Shifting Power.

Action bar

Opener

RakeShredShifting PowerRip

Priority

  1. Shifting Power when your Energy is low: 40 Energy at once for 55% of your base mana, as much as a shift into Cat Form. At full Energy it does not work.

  2. Target almost dead and 5 points: Ferocious Bite hits harder for your spare Energy, and Predatory Discipline lets you keep that Energy.

  3. Rip at 5 points on a target that lives 12 more seconds: your strongest finisher.

  4. Rake when it is not ticking: a cheap bleed and a combo point. Rend and Tear loves bleeding targets.

  5. Shred from behind: your best hit per Energy and your main builder.

Tips

  • Furor only gives back the Energy you had in Cat Form, plus 10 for each second out of form, so powershifting is gone. A detour into Bear Form keeps that Energy now, but none comes back while you are a bear. Shifting Power is your Energy button, and every press costs mana, so watch your mana bar on long fights.
  • Shifting Power is the Cat capstone at launch with an 8 second cooldown, and it needs Predatory Discipline. This fight does not track your mana.
  • Rend and Tear adds 15% damage against bleeding targets, so keep Rake and Rip up.
  • Out of combat at full Energy you gain Poised from level 32: your next Energy ability costs 10 less, so open from a full bar.
  • Clearcasting from Omen of Clarity makes your next Shred free.

Bear Form at level 60

Tanking dummy, it hits back

Your best one-hander, Dire Bear Form, the Primal Bite tank build with Natural Reaction.

Action bar

Opener

Demoralizing RoarPrimal BiteMaul

Priority

  1. Primal Bite on cooldown: your hardest hit, and it makes about twice the threat it used to.

  2. Demoralizing Roar whenever it drops: less damage from everything near you.

  3. Maul with Rage to spare: extra damage and threat on your next swing.

  4. Swipe with a full bar on one target, it grows with 3% of your Attack Power. On packs it is your main button while Primal Bite recharges.

Tips

  • Natural Reaction gives 5 Rage on every dodge, which keeps Primal Bite and Maul fed on a quiet pull.
  • Primal Bite is your 31 point talent now, Berserk is gone. Lacerate, a 15 point Feral talent, stacks a bleed up to 5 times and makes a lot of threat.
  • The beta multiplies armor from consumables in Bear Form, so real survivability at launch may be lower.
