King Gordok

Overview

Inside Dire Maul: North

The Gordok Commons are the seat of King Gordok's power, occupied by elite members of the Gordunni ogre clan. Guards and their captain stand between your group and the ruler. Their tradition gives the final fight a twist: whoever kills the reigning king takes his place.

A normal assault means fighting through the opposition, while a Tribute run rewards a different approach. Spare key bosses and use tricks to reach the throne for a richer reward. A full clear takes about 35 to 50 minutes, so settle on your route before committing to boss kills.

Getting there

Head to Dire Maul in the High Wilderness of Feralas, on Kalimdor. The Gordok Commons are the northern instance of the complex.

Level 56–60 is the range the dungeon is tuned for, not a minimum entry level. This is the Forever level range as it stands today. It can still shift before launch.

Stomper Kreeg

BossLevel 59

5 abilities3 loot items

Stomper Kreeg combines Enrage with a nearby knockback and stun from War Stomp.

Abilities

Tactics

  • Leave room behind the tank so War Stomp does not knock them toward another pack.
  • Ranged players should stay outside his immediate melee area to avoid the nearby stomp.
  • Treat Enrage as a damage spike, since it raises both attack speed and Physical damage.

Tank

Keep a defensive ready for the faster incoming swings.

Healer

Keep the tank healthy before a stomp can interrupt your healing.

Tactics

  • In Classic, he patrols around Fengus's Chest, which holds the Gordok Courtyard Key.

  • After becoming king, return for Slip'kik's Savvy, which increases critical strike chance with spells and attacks.

Notable loot

Captain Kromcrush

5Boss 5 of 7

Captain Kromcrush

BossLevel 61

1 ability6 loot items

Captain Kromcrush commands King Gordok's elite forces. In Classic, his fight combines fear, a healing-reduction cleave and two elite guards at half health.

Tactics

  • Pull him well back from the next trash packs so a fear does not send players into them.
  • Watch Mortal Cleave closely, since it deals heavy damage and reduces healing on the tank.
  • When the guards arrive, have a second player tank one while the other is controlled.
  • For the bypass, have a party member wear the Gordok Ogre Suit and talk to him to draw him away from his post.

Tank

Face Kromcrush away from the rest of the group to limit cleave exposure.

Healer

Save a strong healing response for the overlap between the captain and his guards.

Damage

Keep area damage away from the controlled guard.

Notable loot

Cho'Rush the Observer

6Boss 6 of 7

Cho'Rush the Observer

King Gordok

BossLevel 62

1 ability3 loot items

King Gordok is the level 62 ruler at the end of the run. He applies Sunder Armor while Cho'Rush supports him with spells.

Abilities

  • Sunder Armor · Hacks at an enemy's armor, reducing it by 0 per Sunder Armor. Can be applied up to 5 times. Lasts 30 sec.

Tactics

  • Put the assigned interrupt player on Cho'Rush to stop healing on the king and damaging casts at the party.
  • Concentrate the rest of the group's damage on Gordok rather than splitting it between both enemies.
  • In Classic, Cho'Rush stops fighting as soon as the king dies, so you can finish without killing the observer.

Tank

Keep Gordok positioned where the group can attack him without crowding Cho'Rush.

Damage

If you are watching Cho'Rush, prioritize his casts over your damage on Gordok.

  • Bring add controlFor a fighting clear, bring a way to hold an extra enemy and a reliable CC option. Polymorph or Seduction fits the guard adds in Kromcrush's encounter.
  • Assign an interrupt playerChoose someone who can watch a second caster while the main damage dealers stay on their target. The final encounter needs that split in attention.
  • Leave Stomper Kreeg alive if you want to buy drinks and pick up his quest after King Gordok dies.
  • On a clear that kills Kromcrush, check his loot for the Gordok Shackle Key.
  • Slip'kik's Savvy lasts 2 hours but has no effect inside a raid instance, so plan where you want to use it.
