Overview
Inside Stratholme: Main Gate
Stratholme was once a major city of Lordaeron and the birthplace of the Order of the Silver Hand. Arthas slaughtered citizens here whom he believed carried the plague of undeath. The Scourge occupied the ruins afterward, leaving a burning city enclosed by massive watchtowers and iron gates.
The Scarlet Crusade dominates this side of Stratholme, convinced its zealots are cleansing the plague. Their leadership hides a demonic corruption that turns that mission against them. The city has already swallowed earlier assaults by champions of the Light, with fallen attackers rising again to strengthen the undead they came to destroy.
Getting there
Head to Plaguewood in Eastern Plaguelands and use the primary instance portal labeled Stratholme. This is the Main Gate entrance.
Show on the mapLevel 58–60 is the range the dungeon is tuned for, not a minimum entry level. This is the Forever level range as it stands today. It can still shift before launch.

Before you go
Before you go
- Check your quest logPick up relevant quests before traveling, including The Archivist, Houses of the Holy and Of Love and Family. Compare objectives with the group so everyone agrees on which stops the run needs.
- Assign interrupt coverageChoose a first interrupt and a backup before the first pull. The roster includes both offensive casters and a healer, so avoid spending every kick on the same cast.
- Plan for lost controlRoots, stuns and sleep can disrupt the group. Agree on a callout when the healer loses control so teammates know when healing may pause.
- Set aside about 55 to 80 minutes for a full clear.
- In Classic, both entrances share one instance, and entering through the Service Entrance can make later Main Gate entries return you there until the instance is reset.
- After killing Galford, using the book over his desk sets the Archive on fire, so check the group's quest objectives before leaving.
